Dang! I just caught it on the local sports segment... T-Mac said that it has never bothered him that early on in the season, and that it was never this bad, and that he felt like "average Joe" out there in the pre-season, not able to move and do what he wants. Very concerning, and T-Mac sounded down about it, which is not encouraging at all.
That sucks big time!!!!...i just hope we can adjust if he's out for a while...ADJUST TO LOSING!!! /seriously though, i hope he's ok.
I know this has been briefly discussed before, but if the problem persists and things stay the same or get worse once the season starts, will surgery become inevitable/necessary?
Yao will carry us. He was the #1 pick. The team can win the championship with or without T-Mac. We are that good now.
Bout to say something similiar. I feel pretty confident that this team w/out TMac can carry us just fine during the reg season. But TMac would be necessary if we are to be serious contenders, IMO. We need that goto guy during crunch time.
ExACTLY. . . I hope he doesn't go under the knife I mean . . .Surgery is never a good thing [that is beyond mere basketball] T-Mac needs to be back to his ole self it will make us WCF Contenders Rocket River
I know the Chron reported that T-Mac won't miss the season opener, but did the knee thing become worse in the last 24 hours?
You can't operate to make tendonitis better. It is just something that is chronic and you have to deal with. It flares up from time to time and only rest will really help it.
If I remember correctly, my old highschool track coach said there is nothing much you can do about tendonitis except for rest and treatment...kinda like shin splints. But then again, that was highschool. With the multibillion dollar entity that is the NBA, i'm sure there might be some that can be done medically.
That's not conforting to know, because this means he will always suffer from this, especially if we haven't even started the season and he's saying it's "the worst it's ever been.
Actually, lots of players suffer with it. It is very common, especially in the NBA. There is treatment they can give it, but it will be with him for his entire career and no doubt has been all along. Robert Horry had horrible tendonitis during both championship runs. He even had to sit out a half dozen games each year to rest his knees. But, he got treatment and it improved and he played through it when necessary. T-Mac will be fine.
Rest will do it. But also strengthening using alternative strategies like Biking, trampoline, and slighly less stressful activities than running. But you can practically cure most cases with rest and treatment. There is no surgery unless your tendon becomes detached. Probably good that's not the case for Mac. I had triple tendinitis twice. Pretty much as bad as you can get, down in my inner ankle region. Wore a boot once. Got it both times after running a marathon. But it went away after about 7-8 months of rest and rehab. As long as you don't push tendinitis to it's limit it seems to go away for good. I have no experience with the Knee, but seems like the foot would be just as diffcult as a knee would be.
Yea. The only thing I worry about is, in compensating for the pain in the knee, the rest of his body breaks down. He needs to get a handle on this now before it becomes an even worse injury to his back, hip or groin.
I could notice something was wrong during the preseason games he played in, because it looked like he was running with old man legs.
