Because Ortiz' 6 additional errors in a season would kill the RedSox right? Ortiz could move to 1B if they get enough talent thrown in from the Astros. Not many teams are gonna want/are able to take on Manny's contract.

The key is to watch Manny play. Not to listen to what he says. If you do that he's one of the 5 best players out their. I just have Darryl Ward flashbacks in the OF when i think of Manny.

Great player, tremendous plate discipline, exactly what the Stros need.

Get Bags to reduce his salary, get Boston to reduce some salary of MR and put a nice offer together: young P with a lot of talent (our choice of Backe or Qualls or Lidge) + OF/1b (thier choice of Burke/Lamb) + pick.

Stros could get 100 wins with MR in the clean up spot behind Berkman and mostly the same pitching staff/defense. We would go from a below average offense to an above average offense in 1 move. In fact defense would probably be better too with MR in LF and Berkman full time at 1b.

Why go for Damon when we have Taveras and Biggio at the too. Stros need another heavy, but disciplined, bat in the heart (4/5) of the line up.
