Small moves... before we can consider a possibility of getting our first win.... we have to get our first LEAD of the season. I expect at least the latter to happen today.
For the first time all season... Carr had time, and a reciever was open.... ON THE SAME PLAY!!! Texans with their first lead of the season.
i just started watching. Is Andre playing, and is Braylon Edwards playing? I drafted these two, and they havent done ****. I am 0-7 in my league.
Well, that happens when you have the worst defense in the league. For all the troubles this team has on offense, I STILL feel that its their defense that is too bad for them to overcome. At least on offense, you figure if you can somehow get Carr protection, you have the skills players to be effective. On defense, this team has Dunta Robinson... and that's it.
For anyone who has questioned why I repeatedly say TD/INT ratio is the most worthless statistic in all of sports (well, up there with pitchers' W/L record), take a look at that last play. Carr makes a great throw, hits the tight end right in the hands for a first down... and off Rivers' hands for an interception.
Maybe Mathis can save the Texans 2005 draft. 1. T. Johnson 2. P. Buchanon (traded this pick for him - started today) 3. V. Morency 4. J. Mathis (TD today) 5. D. Hodgdon (started today) 6. C.C. Brown (started today) 7. K. Pettway Brown and Hodgdon started today, Brown doesn't seem to be anything special.. I think I'd like to see more of Glen Earl at SS. Buchanon seems to play zone and not a lot of man. He's always like 10 yards off of the WR. One big problem I have with our defense in the secondary is that we don't cover the intermediate crossing routes very well. Slot receivers just tear us a new one. I guess you can add TE's to that also!
So, we don't even try to rush the QB... and yet there are still countless men downfield wide open. What exactly is the defensive gameplan these days???
That and the fact that our recievers right now are horrid... and defenses don't need help to guard them one-on-one.
"You many not need to put a defender on Corey Bradford right now." Ugh... Both him and Buchannon need to take their pri-maddona mindsets to another team. They think they're hot s***, but they can't prove it on the field when their team needs them most.
The guy was covered... Carr threw it to the only place he could have caught it. It hit him on the hands. But, with Bradford dropping passes that hit him in the chest, I'm questioning whether or not these receivers even deserve "great" throws. The Browns are the first team all season who haven't been able to reach Carr without employing a blitz. Unfortunately, they also have enough to be able to cover our spotty receivers... and unless Carr starts forcing throws into double coverage, the offense is going to sputter (and with that, Carr started forcing it on the current drive... and Gaffney finally made a good catch).
DAMNI! Why throw that away?! Andre Davis had a good angle...but dang. Now a missed FG. We bailed the Browns there.
Jerome Mathis has been a major bright spot... he's given this offense great field position almost every single kickoff return.
