BK, my fellow Horn, our teams season is versus the dirt burglars in Dallas. I think Simms will be MUCH better this year, as he won't be looking over his shoulder. I hear he is making much better reads in practice. BTW, if Roy and BJ would have caught one of those last 3 passes, we would have been a top ten team. ------------------ "norm, would you like to buy an indian scalp ? tywebb.. ok thanks ------------------ Shane "Save Our Rockets" "Life without basketball in Houston........without an arena that is what it will be" [This message has been edited by Rocket Fan (edited June 15, 2001).]
OK, I am definitely not going to see the UH-UT game in person. Why? I just found out that Robertson Stadium is not called Robertson Stadium any more. The new name for UH's football stadium is... John O'Quinn Field at Robertson Stadium As in John O'Quinn, the gazillionaire UH alum trial lawyer and all-American smarm-monster who made boatloads of cash representing smokers and women with breast implants in class-action lawsuits. BLURRHGHGHPHPH!!(That is the sound of RocketMan Tex with the dry heaves!) I am definitelythrowing a party at my house rather than sitting in that skanky stadium! Screw Cougar High!!!!!!!!!! ------------------ "Blues is a Healer" --John Lee Hooker
gr8-1, agreed. Dude, I was so disappointed when I applied for my season tickets. I got the "non-OU" package so I don't think I'm going... and that's the WHOLE SEASON, right there, in one game. We also would have been Top 10 if we'd have shown up for the 1991 Cotton Bowl. If we'd have lost 16-3 instead of 46-3 to Miami, we'd have been ranked. Frankly, this whole no-top-10s-since-1983 is getting pretty pathetic.
BLURRHGHGHPHPH!!(That is the sound of RocketMan Tex with the dry heaves!) Thanks. I have filed this away for future reference...
Bubba apparently was not real motivated when it came to going class. Rocketman Tex. The stadium is actually quite nice now, when is the last time you have been? It is a lot of fun, they serve beer too, which has been needed to tolerate the team over the last decade. ------------------ Now this shirt is chafing me

Beer? At an on-campus stadium? Damn! I may have to reconsider! ------------------ "Blues is a Healer" --John Lee Hooker
Rocketman Tex: You know, outside of Texas, these things are common . ------------------ Lacking inspiration at the moment...
UH has two highly rated freshman QB's in Blade Bassler and Barrick Nealy. There's also a JUCO transfer named Nick Eddy. The QB situation is very much up in the air. Robertson in a walk and was the only QB(aside from Alvin Lee) who was on campus for the spring practices. That's why he's listed first on the depth chart. Helton didn't recruit many QB's when he was here so that position is a big question this year but Bassler and Nealy will make QB solid in the future. ------------------ PS - This is what part of the alphabet would look like if there were no Q and R.
And they make fun of us...Joe Jamail Field at Darrell K. Royal Texas Memorial Stadium I decided not to buy Student Season Tickets this year. No A&M, Nebraska, or K-State coming to Austin plus I won't be able to go to the Red River Shootout. It's cheaper for me to buy student tickets off people. Instead, I'm saving up for NBA League Pass. Worse case I figure the best UT games will be on TV, but the Rockets will not. 2 years of being Rocket deprived is making me go crazy! --- Ty, don't NCAA regulations forbid alcohol on campus? ------------------
That doesn't sound like a bad idea. How much, and will we get every game ? ------------------ "norm, would you like to buy an indian scalp ? This deal isn't gonna make or break me Norm, so don't jerk me around." Harry Carey "Norm, if I had a mohawk scalp, I wouldn't be sitting here talking to you."
i support the feeling of many in this thread, mack brown is doing a great job at ut, it takes time to make a great recruting class come together, i do think we will run the table and play for it all this yr because the guys will finally have an extra yr of maturity under their belt and the schedule. Lastly, to all those who say ut blows one game a yr, like others have said every school has one or two games that end up being closer then they should be, and with our reliance on youth the last couple of yrs its understandable why we just fell short in the end ------------------ How Sweet It Is! Good recruiting does not equal good coaching. Mack Brown, as most big college colleges do, hands alot of his work off to his assistants and he doesn't call plays. He is not the only one at fault for our disappointing annual brain farts- our OC is a terrible play caller. In my three years at UT we've lost to Tech, NC St., and Stanford- no excuse, and each of these losses hurt. Texas has always had a ton of talent, although more in recent years. If you watch alot of Texas football you'd know that the offensive play-calling of our offensive coordinator absolutely sucks- very predictable offense, and Hodges Mitchell up the middle or offtackle was very easy to stop. Two years ago everyone figured out that the Horns could not stop the blitz. Consequently we lost 3 games in a row to A&M, Nebraska and Arkansas to end the season. You would think that the OC would have made some adjustments after the A&M game. And I'm not even going to discuss the blocked punts.... ------------------ "Oh No..." -Bill Walton in 97 just before Stockton's buzzer beater
Baqui99: At least you don't have Tom "Only Upperclassmen are Worthwhile" O'Brien as your coach. A couple years ago BC recruited the #1 highschool running back. His freshman year, despite leading the team in yards per carry, and the entire Big East in kick/punt return yardage, he only gets 50 carries or so. Sophomore year, our senior running back (smart guy, but no athletic talent) gets hurt. No problem... Green (the sophomore, now) runs for more than 1000 yards in just 6 games. So what happens? Washington comes back and Green goes to the bench. Grrrr... Green's a freakin' stud (his speed and strength are both mind-boggling) and potential NCAA rushing leader... and he starts the other guy just because he's a senior. He does this at *every* position, too... that was just the most obvious case. ------------------ Lacking inspiration at the moment... [This message has been edited by haven (edited June 15, 2001).]
well i wish the coogs luck this year.. be nice to have a team play good here in town ------------------ Shane "Save Our Rockets" "Life without basketball in Houston........without an arena that is what it will be"

Only the Coogs could let Michael Ungar (who?) score a TD. Whassssssssssssssup!!!! I'm just messing around. I wish the Coogs best of luck this season (except against the burnt orange of course). ------------------
