I have been pleasently surprised with reading the return of the quality discussions on this board. The summer low came in, then now, then the draft phase is next where all the attention goes there.

In specific regards to the environment thread, I was wondering what have any of you done as an individual to be more environment friendly.

For example, I use to run the water while brushing my teeth. It was a gradual change, but I'm completely off that now for the last 6 years. Also, I recycle cans, re-use plastic bags and paper bags, and recycle paper. I don't use my a/c much in the car (but that's mostly because I'm cheap) and try to carpool as much as possible (again, cheap factor). Oh, and I leave minimal lighting at night (again, cheap plus I have no money). And also, I cut up those six pack rings so birds don't die. And I stopped pouring old oil down into the sewer so people don't die.

Now ALL of these things I NEVER did when I was a kid and probably up to 15 yrs old. I'm not saying I'm an enviromentalist or tree hugger like Jeff or anything, but I do feel better about my semi-enviroment friendly improved lifestyle.

I'm hoping with the raised awareness for the environment, many of you have gone through lifestyle changes in the last decade also. I can remember that it seemed silly to me first learning about it, but after a while that stuff does soak in.

And even though many of you have differing ideoligies about the environment, I hope that everyone can do something, ANYTHING, to try to make it better. I think it's a good thing to do in life and every little thing counts.

So, I know it's not New Year's but in addition to listing changes, it would be nice for y'all to put a resolution down also. Comon, we as americans (most of us here at the cc.net) use over 40% (i think) of the world's resources! I know it's economically justified, but we still should try not to waste so much.

So for me, I will stop using paper towels in bathrooms when the airdryers are available. I know this is a weak resolution, but I can't think of anything else right now. I'll put it down when I can.

So let's hear it. 1, What have you done? and 2, What will you do?

Recycle, take mass transit if feasible, cut six-packs, and avoid buying products with certain chemicals.

Tree hugger???!!!!! I'm aghast you would suggest such a thing! [IMG]

Here are some things I do...

    Recycle everything I can
Ride my bike and walk when possible
Drive less (I work at home)
Have native plants in my yard - low watering, good for the soil and air
    Don't use pesticides
Use environmentally friendly cleaners and yard stuff
Turn my A/C up to 80
Turn the water off while brushing my teeth - I got that one from my 2nd grade teacher - good one!!!
    Compost (my wife does that)

    Things I do that I shouldn't...

    Long showers
Buy too many things I don't use
Leave the computer on too much
Drive a big truck (reluctantly as a part of working)

    I'm sure there is more.

I use to drive a Blazer but now I prefer a vehicle that doesn't hurt Mother Earth. A go-cart, powered by my own sense of self-satisfaction.

I recycle absolutely everything I can. I go out of my way to drop stuff at recycle depots (The City does not make it easy).

I work for an oil company. We are committed to protecting the environment and reducing emissions.
