I've seen Bogut play in person in college and IMHO he is an NBA PF offensively. Offensively, the Bucks can take advantage of Bogut having some range and move him up the lane a little. This allows Magliore to become the Bucks' version of Stro.

Defensively, Bogot will take the slower and/or less athletic of the opposing PF or C. but I think it's going to depend on the matchup. For example, Yao usually has problems with more athletic bigs so they can go with Magliore on Yao and Bogut on Howard. However, vs the Kings Bogut probably matches up better against Brad Miller. In the EC, Bogut can probably defend the C most of the time. Bogut on Brezec, Curry, Z, or Ben Wallace...Magliore on the likes of Taylor, Okafor, Gooden or Rasheed.

Seems like a good trade for both teams.

I may be in the minority, but I think the Hornets got a great deal. I love Mason's game, and you get a 1st rounder on top of that. Magloire wasn't going to save the Hornets from getting the 1st pick, I think the Hornets might have gotten the better deal.

The Bucks might be the league's most improved team this season, seeing as how they might be legitimate contenders if everything falls into place. You can't deny that they've got great potential at every position. Larry Harris certainly in the running for GM of the year. Moreso than CD, I think.

I also agree with you. Desmond will help sell tickets in Oklahoma and he is a good athlete. Jamal is good too but he is too injury prone. The Hornets got a good group of athletes with Chris Paul, J.R. Smith, Desmond Mason, Kirk Snyder, Rasual Butler, and Boki.

The Bucks won't be higher than the 4th seed. Giving Bobby Simmons that big contract after 1 good season was stupid in IMO. Bogut will be a decent player and TJ Ford is too turnover prone. Jamal is also overated.

I agree that the Bucks should be pretty good this year in the East assuming TJ can stay healthy.

Is Mason that good. He sure can dunk, but giving up a top 10 center in the league for a 3rd tier swingman, I dont get it. Nobody knows the future. I never believe trading for future unless its a salary move.

If Magloire is healthy to contribute consistantly,it's a good trade for the Bucks.
Mason will help the Hornets but it looks like they are wanting lottery picks.

i think this puts the hornets into the 6th seed behind:

    1. MIA
    2. IND
    3. NJN
    4. DET
    5. CLE

I got my tickets for the home opener.

I couldn't believe the price for the first game. Lower bowl tickets are $150 and upper bowl tickets are $50! If I didn't have a test on Friday, I'd go for the Rockets preseason game.

The Hornets are doing and saying the right things...like they're going to help rebuild New Orleans and that is their home etc.

I feel bad for the folks in NO but dammit I'm stuck here for a couple of years and I need the NBA.

i really like this trade for the Bucks...i think Magloire can play the PF position with Bogut in the 5 spot... they will contend just b/c of this trade.. i think it actually makes them a contender for the East.

I wouldn't go that far. Maybe they can end up with a much better than expected regular season record, but come playoff time, their team doesn't impress me. But you have to walk before you can run. I just hope T.J. stays healthy and shines brightly.

I think this could be a decent trade for both sides and also gives the NOH a good 123 combo with Paul Mason and Smith kinda like Tim Mitch Chris for the warriors in the early 90's. Since Tim Mitch and Chris were Run TMC the hornets can be Run PMS I'm pretty sure no man would want to face that

Richmond was traded to Sacramento in 91; the great run TMC teams were in the 80s...

Maybe I'm being harsh, a teen pick is probably more likely. I just look at this as being a bubble team, even after getting Magloire. I lump them in with Chicago, Washington, Philly, and the other teams that will have to dogfight for the last EC spots. Redd is a pseudo-franchise player, Bogut needs to improve drastically upon his preseason showings, Stotts isn't a Hall of Fame coach, and TJ Ford is a major question mark to make it through the year. If they gel and maximize their collective potential, they'll nab a #6 or 7 seed. But they very well could struggle and end up with the #10 pick in the lottery.

I actually think this was a good move for the Hornets. They were terrible with guys like Baron Davis and Jamal Magloire so why not blow it up and rebuild? Having two decent first round picks next year will be big for a young team trying to rebuild. If the picks pan out, they'll be in pretty good shape too. They have a few really talented young guys these days. If they keep drafting well, they could have a serious team in a few years.

I think it was an excellent move by both teams.

For Milwalkee, they need defense, toughness and rebouding. They got a solid true center in his prime and a very reasonable contract for such a player. They give up a player who doesn't fit as well in the half court type sets that playoffs demand and in which they can use around Bogut/Ford's passing skills(Mason has poor shooting range and skill particularly compared with Redd and Simmons). I really think Gadzuric is ideal as a 4/5 energy back-up anyway--not a guy you want to start Their cost for this switch, I'd say a probable #11-#17. With 3 good size and quality C/FCs, they also can conserve Bogut somewhat while he gets used to an NBA grind. Basically a great move for them.

I like it for NO as well. NO is going to suck right now, no way around that. But Mason gives them some excitment and scoring, and they can try to run up and down with guys like Paul, Speedy, Anderson, Smith and him. No getting around it they will be terrible, but maybe they can hustle their way to a few wins. In return for Magloire, they get Mason, and the probable #11-17 pick. They also solidify I would think no worse than the 5th pick next draft. All they have left is to dump PJ (which they should have done last year) for expiring contract and a late 1st from a playoff contender needing size, and they have a ton of picks and caproom. This full blown "Denver" model is much better than say the half hearted "Warrior model" for rebuilding.
