The lack of good hitters is glaringly obvious in a series like this. Who are the Astro's clutch hitters, besides Berkman? And Asmus might be a great catcher but he can't hit a red barn with a brickbat, and I think a turtle could outrun his throw to second. When pitching is anything less than spectacular, this team is in deep trouble. Right now, I think the White Sox's batboy could hit a homer off of the Astro relievers. The series is over, but I hope the Astros can win at least one game for the fans. The roof decision is ridiculous and the fans should give the league an earfull on this one.
I really hope that Backe wins this game.. I need to go downtown this weekend (chicago) and don't want it to be all crazy. If they lose... I am going to a bar Wrigleyville to sulk since I can't be in Houston..
if the White Sox win the Series, I wonder what it will be like for Opening Day at Wrigley next season....with a team across town hoisting a world champs banner.
LIke it is every year. A lot of hope, a lot of beer before another year where the Cubbies fall short once again.
I've got a renewed sense of hope this morning and I still believe we've got a chance. All we need is a few clutch hits and we're back. GO STROS!
I think it's over. I think if you played 10 games against the White Sox...we lose them all. That's just the way it has been going for the Astros against the Sox. I don't think their the better team necessarily. Who would have expected Roy to give up 5 runs and have his worst inning ever? I just think their serving the Astros with what we are supposed to do best. Their countering our every move until we can do no more. Their the last man standing when the last out is recorded. I would love to have at least one win but I seriously doubt it will happen tonite. How fitting that a former Astro deals the death blow? You knew, deep down, it was going to unfold that way. I knew when they put him in...that he would do something to hurt us. Yes, we could have won all three games but we did not. It still has been a competitive and entertaining series but God has apparently chosen the White Sox and cursed the Astros. So, I guess we're supposed to say "at least we got to the World Series" and come away with some satisfaction. But, it doesn't feel like enough now. It feels like crap. The Astros have had opportunities every game to come away with a win. Yet, we cannot get it done. The Sox are always one step ahead of us. The whole roof thing felt like an excuse to lose this game just because it was open. It shouldn't be like that if your team is confident.
How can the baseball gods let a franchise that A) threw a World Series B) had their players wear shorts in a game C) has fans who like to father/son tag team 60-year old men and D) has fans who would slap a player's wife win the World Series? The baseball gods will be dead to me if they allow the White Sox to win.
Success in baseball isn't often given to the teams, players and fans with the best character. See Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb and Yankees fans for example. I wish it was because then Biggio and Bagwell would've led the Stros to several World Series victories.
Lets not bring God into this. I'm sure he's got a lot of other things to concern himself than with whether the Stros or Chisox win the World Series.
Of the next 4 games, tonight would be the toughest to win. If we can somehow get past tonight I think it could start to snowball and we can get this thing back to Chicago. Tonight is the night though.
Venezula!!! the kid is funny. he makes me laugh. i can see it now, a manager from America managing some team in another country who, after every interview, with all that country watching, screams -USA!!! I would think that just as silly as I do Guillen yellling 'Venezula" he and carla everett make that an interesting dugout
ozzie's a ****ing idiot, plain and simple. but hats off for being the better manager this series though.
