I'll let Lidge bat. It's leading off the inning with nobody on base. Doesn't hurt much, and an extra inning from Lidge could be crucial.
And if he had bunted and missed, and we lost our man on 3rd, people would have said the squeeze was "another bad decision by Garner".
Man, maybe it's a good thing the Stros haven't made the World Series before ... these games are taking 10 years off my life! Let's end this thing right now...
Yup. Is it too wishful thinking that he could hit a HR here and help us forget about the last couple of games?
i would have preferred to be aggressive there and go for the squeeze. but i'm not going to condemn garner for NOT doing so. he's gotten us to the mother falcon world series for cryin out loud. let lidge bat. he can't be any worse than everett.
On the plus side it looks like Lidge has his groove back on the down side if the Stros don't win this one its not going to matter that much. LETS GO STROS!!! [nervous] Very[/nervous]
Guys would you rather have the Astros team from the late 90's that batted .100 against the Braves. Sure they leave runners..they've been doing it all season. But this team is far from choke right now...they have battled all series and I for one am proud of them for that. If anything, you point it to Ensberg who's had chances and hasn't stepped up. But to say the team, as a whole, has choked, that's not entirely accurate.
I don't think you could bunt with Craig ... They didn't care if they walked him so they could pitch out even with 3 balls and pitching around him, he might have gotten a ball so far out of the strike zone that Chris would have been a sitting duck. The only option for a squeeze was with Willy and Garner didn't trust him (and I don't either as he is only used to trying to bunt for hits and misses a lot)
Burke should start in CF tomorrow...Willy hit well in Chicago, but he just doesn't do anything in clutch situations, and his speed has been nuetralized all playoffs. DD
Since Qualls has been just as good. I'd take lidge out. Try to win now. But either way it's a good decision.
