I couldn't figure that out either! lol I think the story was that they nuked some parts of the country which knocked out communications. Don't know why they didn't know nukes were in the air though. [IMG]

haven: no they weren't providing for it but especially were they not preventing it. That is the point.

shanna: if such a ludicrous invasion could ever occur, I would rather the citizens be armed than not. How is that not an obvious preference?

SamCassell: congress doesn't NEED to codify it and I'm glad they haven't. Inarguably, though it is a national issue and therefore subject to federal law-making.

SpaceGhost: I don't know if you are referring to "The Way We Were" or "Dead Man Walking."

The former is about a liberal Jewish activist (Barbra) who marries a WASP (Redford). They love one another but cannot remain married because of their conflicting values. It's basically the story of my first marriage-- minus the ongoing love!!

"Dead Man Walking" is a Hollywood apology for eliminating the death penalty. Sean Penn plays a truly cruel and cold-blooded murderer who tortures, rapes and murders a high-school couple. He is convicted of his crime and receives the death penalty. Susan Sarandon plays the nun who befriends him and fights for a life sentence for him rather than having him face The Grim Reaper. He is a true monster who lies to her about the event right up until the moments before his last Dead Man's Walk, as he makes his way to the Death Chamber. It is a true story authored by the nun (last name of Prejean, I think).

The next time I have meat and mashed potatoes, I think I'll put a very large blob of potatoes on my plate with just a little piece of meat. And if someone asks me why i didn't get more meat, ill just say, "Oh, you mean this?" and pull out a big piece of meat from inside the blob of potatoes, where ive hidden it. Good magic trick, huh?

Is the idea of legalization really a "left" or "right" wing idea? I'm not sure. Yeah, generally more people who favor it are Democrats or Socialists... but the heavy preponderance of both major parties want to keep drug laws. It seems more of a libertarian thing to me.

Wasn't Red Dawn the first movie to get a PG13 rating?

I remember enjoying the movie at the time, but I don't think I've seen it since I saw it in the theaters (and I guess I was about 14 or so then).

I loved that movie when I was a kid... I tried to dig holes in my backyard so I could cover them with camoflauge in case commies came running across my yard in a certain direction. Quality film.

OK, you obviously didn't get the joke...sorry. I was just making an observation that Red Dawn is one of the very few right wing movies out there. I picked your name out of a hat that contained the names Space Ghost, Brian Kagy, MadMax, and RichRocket.

    Sorry.

I too, judge movies on how I like them, not so much on the message they portray.
