Well, I feel like an ass. I was watching the game with a bunch of friends and a couple of them were mad and yelling at why Garner would bring Lidge in. They were staying how much he sucks. Becaue they don't watch the stros, but have seen some of their games this post season which included the BLOWN save by Lidge against the Cards. Here I was standing up for Lidge saying how awesome he was. He just had a bad game against the Cards. Then BOOM. HR. I feel like an idiot now.
It really sucks that our bullpen has gotten hit hard so far this series...but maybe the weather has a little to do with that. Hopefully we'll come back home and even this thing up. I really hope Lidge can rebound from this, though I don't think it's so bad considering the homer he coughed up against Pujols didn't affect the outcome of that series and in reality, Wheeler and Qualls cost us the game moreso than Lidge (who should've been pitching for the save there and hence we'd still be up 4-3). But this just really hurts. I like what Konerko said in the postgame interview, that they've really met their match in the Astros cause they scratch and claw and fight back just as hard as they do. And that's what it is, we've run into a team that is just as scrappy and just as resilient as we are. I don't blame Lidge though. It was a tie game, and someone was gonna lose. It just sucks that Lidge had to be on the losing end. Now lets just get back home into the comfort of MM and outa this s**t wheather in Chicago that's screwing w/ our pitchers control. And Lidge is far from done as closer...remember people...if it weren't for him we would not be here and he had been pretty dominant up until midway through the NLCS. And I still wouldn't trust anyone else in that situation than Brad Lidge. He is still one of the best closers in mlb...and 2 damn games aren't gonna change that.
That's sports fans (especially Houston sports fans) at its finest... everybody here was crucifying Qualls last year, and praising him this year before this game. Everybody was hating on Ensberg before this year, cheering him on during the season, hating on him before this game, then loving him after the HR. We all talk about how annoying the east coast bias is... but their fans are FAR more knowledgeable about sports than the typical bandwagon/only watch during the playoffs/Houstonian that I've encountered in this year's playoffs.
White sox in 5. We will win Roy's game and thats about it. I suppose Lidge won't be dropping any F-bombs after this game. So much for that jungle karma. lol I'm actually ready for this to be over so that we can focus on HOUSTON ROCKETS basketball!!! Go Tmac!
You're wrong and I'm the moron? Least I know to look something up before posting a fallacy. It was my senior year of HS and I watched the damn series, I lost money on it. So don't come on here calling other people morons when you don't know WTF you're talking about. LOL Get a frickin' life.
Even when Lidge is on top of his game, Lidge is no Eckersley. That being said, I think he'll bounce back. I really wish Garner had pitched Lidge in Game 6 against the Cards. That would have somewhat alleviated the psychological aspect of this loss.
I'm still PO'd, but I really didn't expect them to come back in the 9th...That only made it hurt that much more... We'll bounce back, no problem...
I swear if I have to hear about how good Chicago is here at work and how much the Astros suck I am going to KILL someone. (I live in Chicago). I almost popped a guy in the face today because his smart ass remarks.
hey, at least they didn't pull your wife's hair...some guy ran up to biggio's wife and pulled her hair real hard at the game..and was arrested. and then another astro fan was assaulted at the stadium...they were talking about that this morning on sportsradio.
