anyone care to share their experiences. I'd love to read them. Kinda nervous, but it needs to be done. I have a torn labrum in my right shoulder. It's the reason Scott Rolen didn't play against the Astros. Jon Barry also had this operation.
yeah, blew it off as minor thing when it happened then, but as it continued to happen I had to get an MRI. I also needed to get some insurance issues settled.
damn...that was a long time ago. never had it done myself..but I fear I may be headed for a archilles surgery myself soon...just had the MRI today and will hopefully get to see the dcotor tomorrow to hear the results. good luck with that bro...gotta be in shape for the next one...right?
I'm having surgery on my right shoulder on December 14, its the day right after my last final. I have torn tissue. Heres to all going swell
Had the same surgery done in Feb 2001. It was the best decision I ever made. IIRC.. had physical therapy for about 4-8 weeks (cant remember). The therapy helped me get my flexibility back. It took about a year to be back at full strength. I now lift weights and work out about 4-5 days a week and I am the strongest I've ever been. You won't regret having the surgery.
Not sure if it's the same problem, but I had surgery about 8 yrs ago to correct my left shoulder which never wanted to stay where it belonged. It had been going on for years... I'd be putting a shirt on or some equaly benign activity and out pops the shoulder. After much flailing I was always able to get it to pop back in place. Then it finaly happened one morning that I could not and had a coworker take me to the emergency room. After a few hours of agonizing pain and lots of morphine (give him more said the doctor to the nurse, he's as big as a horse) the doctor finaly got the shoulder back in the socket. He told me in no uncertain terms that if I did not have surgery I would do permanent nerve damage, etc. So, I had the surgery which involved cutting and then tightening the tissue in the shoulder area and it has never popped out since. Rehab was sort of a b****, but was able to do it on my own following excercizes the dr prescribed - best thing I've ever done for myself. Good luck
I had surgery not in my shoulder but my knee. Surgery is pretty safe, if that's what you're concerned about. Make sure you stick with the rehab. It'll prob be critical to the overall success. Good luck, hope the shoulder is great afterwards!
I'm looking at a hip replacement sometime in the next 7 months.... I'll be highly immobilized for a good 6 weeks - bed ridden for a good 5 days, use a walker for 3 weeks, and crutches for the next 3 weeks after that, plus, I can't drive my car for 12 weeks. I'd rather take the shoulder surgery. Good luck with it by the way. I'm sure it will go smoothly.
Fudge...I've been having some chronic bouts of self diagnosed hip bursitis lately...may be arthritis, but I sure as hell don't want to go through another debribing, especially inthe hip area. Sorry to hear about the surgery meg's.
Well, for those that care, the surgery went well, or has gone well so far. but now I can't put a shirt on and I am only typing with my left hand. I will probably be back in the Rockets playing rotation sometime in late March.
