I am sticking with what works. I don't know how they had a winning season, I don't how they made the playoffs, I don't know how they beat the Braves, I don't know how they beat the Cardinals and I don't think they have a chance against the White Sox. Being wrong feels pretty good.
I'm a Houston sports fan. What do you think? In my defense though, I never doubted Roy O. I was more concerned about the Astros hitters, and once they got past their jitters in the first two innings, they came through.
Honestly, I just knew that Roy O was taking us to the Big Show...A perfect offering was made to Jobu and we burned the old 98 Astros Logo as Game 6 was Houston's moment to bury the past and rise out the ashes as a World Series Phoenix Thanks unto Jobu until World Series Come, Pennants without End, Playballamen!
As you may all already know, from day one with this team I have had the utmost confidence and sung their praises every chance I could get. I don't know why, but I just thought from early on that this was their year.... I didn't doubt them after game 5, because I knew if there was one Astro that it didn't affect it was Roy freaking Oswalt.
Nope, it ended 2+ months ago when fat Pupura didn't trade for Larry Bigbie. I watched a movie last night, what did you do?
specifically after game 5 i didn't have any doubts they would win. the cardinals hitting has been dominated all series, one home run wasn't going to change that. And I personally think Roy is the most clutch guy on this staff anyway. that dude's a stud. my doubts about the Astros in this series went out the window after game 2. the cardinals looked befuddled the whole series. never seen them struggle so much to score. and if you let the stros stick around they'll find away to put 4 runs on the board.
Zero doubts whatsoever. Those who've read the 'Stro threads in here the past few days can vouch. I BEE-LIEVED! I still can't believe this has happened!
I knew when we won the Wild Card that this was our year. Being 15 games below .500 and making the playoffs just does NOT happen. Even in the midst of being down 6-1 in game 4 against ATL, I knew we'd win the series, though the Stros surprised me with their 18 inning method. When we lost game 1 in St. Louis, I was not panicked. Even when Pujols broke our hearts the other night in game 5, I told myself we'd still win. And even if we somehow get down 3 games to none in the World Series (and that will not happen), I will not worry because this is not 1980, 1986, 1998, 1999, 2001, or 2004. It's 2005, the year of the Stro!!!
Monday night I had doubts. That was the kind of event that can kill a team. Tuesday I had doubts. Then I woke up Wednesday and all felt right with the world. We only had to win one of two games and we had Roy and Roger going for us. I remembered how resilient this team is and how they NEVER give up. I KNEW we were going to win this series. Hell, I wrote about it yesterday... http://vtbub.com/index.php?title=your_turn_1&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1
I was crushed after game 5, but I knew we could pull it off, esp with Roy O on the mound. We were silent watching the game last night...not a word was spoken about victory until the last out. On Monday however, we partied our butt's off starting in the 7th, closed out our tab and was ready to dart downtown. That was a mistake.
I did not think the Astos would win another game this season after Monday night; apparently it was more devastating to the fans than the players. I can't recall ever having such a high-low feeling in such a short time frame. Even with the victory last night, I am still not over it. It was the most crushing sports moment ever, only a WS win at Minute Maid can fully atone for that "game."
