Did you miss Yao last night? For the first time since ... I don't know.., I enjoyed watching the rockets without Yao. Mutombo and Head proved themselves to be worthy starters.. How's that? DA looked finally warmed up making jumpers, 4 assists and 2 steals. Moooochiee moch... making plays earning 5 assists. Swift.. ahhh... need I say anything? Or maybe it's your turn to speak up..
I know exactly what you mean. Hell, I was playing NBA2k6 last night and I kept nagging my friend about the depth of the team. Everytime I made a substitution I was like "damn look at this rotation...there's so many options!". For instance, if Yao is out Stromile can start at C and be backed up by Mutombo, and Juwan can start at PF and be backed up by Baxter. We take a hit but it's NOTHING like the last year when he'd have to sit (very rarely but still). And on top of everything else, we might even get Sura back!!!
It's on both but I play it on Xbox. If you're a Live fan or whatever, switch to 2k NOW. The control is so in-depth it's ridiculous. On default difficulty you might be able to win by just mashing buttons and dunking a lot, but once you learn the finer points of the control system and kick the difficulty up a notch or two this becomes the most realistic and satisfying basketball game ever made. I can't even count how many times I was playing it last night and watched a replay just to marvel at how realistic the last sequence of events was.
Yeah I definitely love our bench this year...we've gotten a lot deeper and have alot more solid contributors...Yao/Howard/TMac/Wesley/Alston/Mutombo/Stro/DA...thats a great, solid eight-man rotation right there...then you have some other key role players such as Barry, Norris, and Baxter (who I've been really impressed with, btw) who are capable of playing sound minutes and doing positive things on the floor...I'd say we're the deepest team in the West, simply because I dont like SA's bench as of now...
sa has a good bench and so do we. the question is that if we can gel better than they can. the league learned that putting stars together doesnt always mean a championship ie: Lakers. I have faith in the rockets organization and I believe the strive for excellence will empower our players to take it to another level.
am I the only one who thought this thread title was talking about the life of a second class NBA groupie?
Agreed, Live is GARBAGE compared to 2k6. Glad I went with the cheaper game! The 24/7 is pretty easy/cheesy... My only complaint though is not being able to edit a player completely, i.e. you can't change a players number (Anderson is 23, Alston, once traded, will be 18), features (I wanted to give Anderson his corn rows, and ratings (Alston's handle is too low IMO)... If you actually can edit, let me know!
I think we have somehow become a pretty deep team. Mutombo, Howard (or Swift), Anderson, Barry, Head, etc can all play. However, I do worry about the durability of our team, which may push our depth to the limit. Anderson, Sura, and Swift are all pretty much guaranteed to miss a significant number of games based on their histories. And, with all our old guys, we're liable to have more breakdowns there. Even McGrady has back trouble.
In previous years, Live was garbage. Then last year, Live was better than 2k, but again this year Live is garbage again. I dont know why after making such a good game last year, Live would go back to that arcade style crap.
Rockets by 8 points against Seattle withou Yao and TMac, I think I just proved my point once again... Go Rocks and Go Astros!!!
I was playing the PC version NBA LIVE 06. Could anybody get a defensive rebound? It's ridiculously hard to grab a board while your opponent can grab all the missed shot and slams it home. I'm pissesd off and returned it.
you all excited about nb2k6 well look at a image for the xb360 i cant wait im getting it as soon as it comes out.
I'm getting tired of all these sweaty close-ups from 360...anybody got any actual "in-game" shots or better yet, video?
There was a ~2-minute gameplay clip at this one site (Xboxyde), but it looks like Take Two forced him to take it down. It looked just about as good as those screens for the most part, although it obviously needed some work (terrible bug for the the shorts animations, default head coach models for both teams, duplicate crowd members in the same section, incomplete cheerleader models, etc.). The players looked good though.
