I dreamt it last night....SERIOUSLY! down by 3 in the 9th. bases loaded. bags up in the hitter's box. Astros Win! Astros Win! Astros Win!
Burke's starting tonight. Hope he can keep his mojo going. "I've heard that I'll be starting on Thursday, against Cardinals lefty Mark Mulder. He's tough. He's probably the toughest left-hander I've ever faced. We're going have a tough task at hand. At the same time, we're sending a pretty good guy to the hill [Roy Oswalt] ourselves. Runs are going to be at a premium. It would be nice to scratch out a couple of runs early so Roy can go out with a lead and pitch comfortably. clutch burke slowly takes on the roll of beltran... stros 5 cards-2 burke with another homer. astros sweep from here on out.
Too much hype for Oswalt and not enough respect for Mulder translates into another loss for the good guys....NOT! Better f-ing win...OR ELSE!
My only concern is Oswalt rides the fastball all game. When he has done that in the past, it's cost him. If he mixes his pitches and uses that dangerous curve of his, we'll be in good shape. And if our offense doesn't waste so many scoring opportunites we'll be fine.
We would have won Game 1 if Pettitte's knee hadn't been hurt during batting practice (and especially since he had just gotten over the flu). It took both of those unfortunate events to bring down Pettitte to mediocrity (and yes, five runs against the Cardinal offense is mediocrity; they're capable of 7+ every night). No way we lose tonight. Oswalt shuts them down, Clemens steps in tomorrow to redeem himself from his last start, Backe rides the adrenaline and comes in to redeem his last start, and Pettitte makes up for yesterday with the clinching game. I love my Astros.
Someone complained on SR610 about it and John & Lance mentioned that they'd contact the Astros about it, wonder if that did it.
