Bomb, not Katrina, broke dikes: Farrakhan
    Oct 13 3:16 PM US/Eastern

Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan fueled a rumor that explosives, not Hurricane Katrina, broke New Orleans' dikes and flooded poor African American neighborhoods.

"A member of the Army Corps of Engineers saw burn marks on the concrete," Farrakhan told reporters, describing an e-mail he had received.

"They found two types of explosives used by the military," he said, without naming the source, adding that an eight-meter (25-foot) crater had been blown in the dike.

Farrakhan said locals had reported sounds of explosions, among other things, leading him to believe the rumors should be investigated.

"Wickedness exists in high places," he said. "The duty of the government is to prove the rumor to be false or that these suspicions are true."

The Chicago-based Nation of Islam is an offshoot of Islam. Farrakhan has earned headlines with controversial statements about Jews and homosexuals.

He also attacked the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Red Cross.

"FEMA is insensitive, there are not enough blacks high up. The Red Cross, too. It's too white, it is! Racism poisoned the bloodstream of politics," he said.

"Don't think it's non existent in the Red Cross or FEMA," he said.

And we wonder why muslims hate western culture and politics. Why they blow themselves up to kill innocent westerners. They are fed this garbage every day by their "leaders." Its pitiful. Muslims need to account for their own people's stupidity.

Americans at home should start to account for their own people's stupidity too. You could start by educating yourself on the fact that the Nation of Islam is in no way related to Islam, and was deemed heretical from its very existance.

Arabs abroad most likely aren't even aware of it's existance. It's a black supremist religion of America. That kind-of-important fact wouldn't stop you from spouting off your ignorance though, now would it?

Nation of Islam members are NOT "real" Muslims. Elijah Muhammad is a fraud as far as orthodox Muslims are concerned.

Aren't there stories floating around that Farrakhan had a part in Malcolm X's assassination?

Poll Says Most Americans Believe Saddam-9/11 Link Has Been Proven

WASHINGTON - Seven in 10 people in a poll say the Bush administration implied that Iraq and its leader Saddam Hussein were involved in the Sept. 11 attacks against the United States.

And a majority, 52 percent, say they believe the United States has found clear evidence in Iraq that Saddam was working closely with the al-Qaida terrorist organization.

The number that believes this country has found weapons of mass destruction is 23 percent, down from 34 percent in May, according to a poll conducted by the Program on International Policy Attitudes at the University of Maryland.

Prewar assertions by the Bush administration about al-Qaida's ties to the Iraqi government have not been proven, and weapons of mass destruction have not been found since the invasion of Iraq.

CIA officials have said that two trailers recovered in Iraq were mobile biological weapons laboratories; Bush administration officials have called the trailers the most significant evidence yet that their allegations of Saddam's weapons programs were accurate.

Only four in 10 of those polled, 39 percent, said they thought the government was being fully truthful when it presented evidence of links between Saddam and al-Qaida. But among those who thought the government was not telling the truth, people were more likely to say the government was "stretching the truth, but not making false statements" rather than "presenting evidence they knew was false."

The number who want the United Nations to take a leadership role in Iraq has grown from 50 percent in April to 64 percent now.

More than 60 U.S. troops have died in Iraq since President Bush declared May 1 that major combat had ended. But the American public remains committed to sticking with the Iraq mission.

Eight in 10 said the United States has the responsibility to remain in Iraq as long as necessary until there is a stable government.

The poll of 1,051 adults was taken June 18-25 by Knowledge Networks and has an error margin of plus or minus 3 percentage points.

well many believe that nation of islam had a part in malcolm's assasination. reason being that he departed from the nation and joined orthodox islam.

farakhan is a clown. he has little credibility. anyone who puts him in the category of 'see muslims are all wack' is out of touch with history.

nation of islam is a black nationalists group. akin to kkk appropriating christianity noi appropriated in islam to give itself legitimacy and dignity. for a while it worked. noi was respected in the black community during the early 60s even though it never really had mass appeal.

i think the troubling fact is that when people like him can say such idiocy and still get some attention...it highlights the racial problems in our society which we generally love to ignore.

Looks like Andrew Breitbart is a mini Drudge. Found this online:

LOL! Yah, the Nation of Islam is reflective of Muslim hatred.

There is so much ignorance and stupidity on this board, it's beyond rediculous.

But, again, maybe since most people here seem to be mathematicians and techies, they might not have so much interest in history/anthropology/theology etc. (although quiet a few posters here know a thing or two)

it sure sounds like something he'd say.

for the record...i wasn't posting this to point fingers at Islam. i know very well that Nation of Islam and Islam are two very, very different things. for instance...as a Muslim, you don't inherently think that I'm Satan because of the color of my skin. :D

Not sure. I'd imagine MSM would have also picked it. Unlike the Bush's Jim Beam story, which MSM would have a hard time to corroberate and the fear of possible repercussion from the WH, what do MSM have to lose in reporting this?
