This reminds me of The Simpsons where Homer keeps putting on g-string bathing suits and they get sucked up into his "crack".
I'd rather have a VPL than a piece of cloth wedged between my cheeks. Talk about uncomfortable. Women are finally realizing that most of the underwear you wear is going to be there all day and won't be seen by anyone except yourself; might as well be something you like. (There will always be a market for the more seductive stuff for those special occasions... but those are when you're not planning to stay in the "knickers" all day anyway.) Also, there are certain kinds that pull in your stomach and your buns. Well worth the extra money.
I understand if you like something, necessarily, but most women say that a thong is very comfortable. If you don't like them, then to each their own, but this is more about a fashion trend than comfortability. Thongs wouldn't have been around for the past twenty years, if they were horribly uncomfortable. Most women I knew that didn't like them were more conscious about their looks in them than the comfortability issue, which I already mentioned.
