To his defense, that ball was right there in his wheelhouse... middle in, at the knees. The only difference... it was a hanging curveball instead of a 95mph heater... so in fact, Carpenter throwing a BAD pitch helps him out even more.
maybe you take a pitch. I don't know, two straight walks. I know he's our big bat, and he hit it hard -- but damn, just take a pitch. Grrr...
i'll make my request as well astros stop blowing it against carpenter with men in scoring position please
Big picture... if you don't start taking pitches, Carpenter is going to go deep into the game today. The Cards bully is not as strong as in the past. We need to try and get into the pen. I'm not saying he swung at a bad pitch. I just think he swung at a hanging off-speed pitch that he blistered into the ground, not something that he could elevate and drive.
True... but you can see that Carpenter doesn't throw many things out of the zone... except for when he already has 2 strikes on you (and you're not going to get many hits in many AB's when you have 2 strikes on you). Taking pitches will be key tommorow against a wild Mulder... but tonight, early on, everything that they're swinging at are strikes.
