I think they did a good job in the time alotted given.

Baxter seems to be a Weatherspoon clone but w/ skills.

Langford seems to run the same way as Head, but I think Mooch and him are fighting for that last spot.

Hayes is a good guy and seems to have some skills, but I think he will get cut or barely get onto this roster.

    What do you guys think?

I think LB would be a pretty darn good backup to Tmac.

    me thinks......

Baxter will be a more productive Spoon for us. He seems like an excellent 3rd stringer and is perfect for our needs.

Langford looked active, played a similar style as Head but not as complete or gifted. I think we'll have to see a few more games to see if he could take over Moochie's role on the team..

Hayes looked good, didn't have a lot of mins to actually see anything but what we did see was not bad so that's a good thing.

Overall our scrubs are pretty solid.. probably the best scrubs we've had in a while!

I liked Baxter's hustle. That dude can scoop up the ribbys. Hopefully they'll have a roster spot open for him.

I didn't see enough of the rest. Perhaps, we'll discuss this after the pre-season games.

LB is definitely a power forward, theres no way he backs up Tmac. LB does not have the quickness, speed, or shooting touch to get anything done at the 3 spot.

I think Hayes (44 right?) was doing Bowen's job well. If we hadn't signed Bowen I think Hayes might have been are 3rd SF. Did you see when he chased down his own rebound? He was jumping around like something that jumps a whole lot. LOL Getting boards and such.

How many spaces do we need to fill on our roster?
I think there is only one space up for grabs and I think Glover and Hayes will be battleing for it.

I don't expect Howard or Swift to play 82 games. Baxter should get a chance to play, and based on last night's performance, he looks ready.

    You're probably right, but he's only 6'8.

Baxter will definitely help this team. When I first saw him play for the Bulls a couple years ago, he played with strong intensity while displaying the skills of a well rounded role player. He'll get his share of boards (and then some) while adding some scoring as a bonus.

So what's the lineup situation? Who's already signed? How many spots are open? And who's fighting for those spots?

1 spot open for: Glover, Langford, or Hayes.

    My vote goes to Glover.

By the time Clarence Weatherspoon slipped on a Rockets jersey, he relied on absolutely nothing BUT skills and veteran know how. He had no athleticism and was fat and out of shape. Lonnie Baxter does not seem more skilled than Clarence Weatherspoon to me. He seems younger, more active, stronger and more athletic, but not more skilled. Skills are all Clarence Weatherspoon had going for him in his tenure with the Rockets. His athletic days were long behind him.

No, he's definitely right. He's 6'8 260 pounds! He's all muscle, no speed and finesse. He isn't a shooter. He isn't much of a passer. In fact, aside from the fact he's the same height as T-Mac, he has absolutely none of the requisite abilities to play small forward.

Point taken and accepted - I humbly withdrawal the option to have LB play the 3.

I've liked Baxter from his Maryland days. I never thought he got a fair shake because of his body type and lack of height. But he can really play. Guys like him and that big bodied kid from Missouri (Arthur something or another) seem to get overlooked despite their nack for getting the ball and scoring it.

I'm not sure how the rules work, but I certainly hope that the Rockets hang on to Hayes and let him work on his game in Austin. Of course, I'm biased, but the guy is as unselfish as they come and an established winner. Even though Chuck did not get a lot of minutes in the summer league, he obviously made an impression on JVG, who extended a camp invite.

Baxter is the best banger we have had since Calvin Murphy. Calvin was doing a different kind of banging though....
