Now I know, we'll probabaly go into the season with the current lineup, but dang a Maggette and TMac 2-3 combo is hard to deny, Maggette gets to the line with the best of them, plays good D and is athletic as hell. Wilcox is a Swift lite with a crappy work ethic and probably with an IQ of a pile of dirt. Anyway, its on realgm. take it for what its worth.
Where does it say that? Maggette would be fantastic. Unfortunately, we have nothing to offer, unless the Clipps are looking for expiring contracts, and we don't have too many of them anymore, either.
http://www.nypost.com/sports/knicks/29176.htm Unfortunately, it's from Peter Vecsey, so take it with a pound of salt...
What about Maggette/Wilcox for Pierce/Blount. The Celtics get a star SG in Maggs and a young PF that has shown signs of being good. The Clips get a Cali-kid in Pierce and a servicable center. Dickau Maggette Davis Jefferson LaFrentz Livingston Mobley Pierce Brand Kaman
Entertaining offers doesn't mean they are shopping. There is a difference. Entertaining offers: teams shopping players come calling about Maggette/Wilcox, and the team doesn't hang up on them. Shopping: Clippers calling around the league trying to find takers for the pair. Only makes sense. Maggette and Wilcox have value, they help the team, but they aren't untouchable by any stretch. If they could pawn them off for a Pierce, Marbury, Francis, or other star with lowall-trade-value status, great. Evan
With Cassell and Mobley in the backcourt, I am still trying to figure out how they are going to mesh with Maggette and Brand. Seems like they all will be competing for shots. Not a good mix there.
Well, from a Celtics perspective, no thanks. Maggette is like Pierce only A) is physically-brittle, B) more foul-prone and C) has a worse attitude. Not worth swapping knuckleheads in Blount and Wilcox - the Celtics rotation is full of tweener forwards who deserve minutes, and the benefit of adding Wilcox would be minimal. Pierce for Brand? Maybe. Neither is a good fit for uptempo basketball, but Pierce fills a need and Brand doesn't.
from PBN.com: The Western Conference GM added, “… Obviously it is something that would have to involve more than Pierce and Maggette. I don’t usually read the Post, and from what I understand, it has a questionable reputation when it comes to NBA trades. But it would not surprise me if Wilcox was involved in the deal.”
Cassell will be providing offense off the bench because the Clippers have Shaun Livingston as the NBA's future #1 point guard. Mobley, Maggette, and Brand should be able to co-exist fine, because Brand and Mobes don't need a lot of plays run for them.
