I thought posting your own synopsis of the longest playoff game ever might be rather amusing. Here's mine as a starter and try not to include comments if you can help it: the story goes like this, Atlanta looks like they will kick astro behinds, couple close plays end up with bases loaded, grandy, still down, worst homerun hitter ever steps up late in the 9th and ties it by literally one inch, game uses up every player on the Astros and all but one from Atlanta by playing two games back to back without starting over, guy, that as far as non-fans go, named 'nobody', last name: B- something hits winning homerun in walkoff fashion..... oh yeah, Roger Clemens wins the game in relief.
Game over. Why did we pitch baggy. ****, Hudson is on, game over. Well, you never know that's one run. Nice sac fly. But needed more. Getting sleepy. I wonder how the football game is going. Getting killed in Smegs fantasy league. Damn it. Maybe I could get in a video game real quick. I'm tired. A couple of runs now and maybe we can get into strinking distance Safe again! Did he just kick it. Oh no. Were' screwed now. This is the break of the game. This is it. It's over. Damn. Bases loaded. Strikeout!! Wheeler you the man!! One more baby. Hell yeah!! God Damn, get a hit please. Everyone trying for fences. Biggio what are you doing. Clemens is all alone out there. Here he comes. God Damn it. Get one hit. Please. Geez. similar to phislammajamma's but with "god damnit, we're going back to ATL" if we kept up the futility of getting shutout inning after inning (from the 9th to the 17th). lot of stress, lot of yelling, lot of relief at the end lol I can't even post a recap
I was just trying not to have a heart attack with the roller coaster waves of emotions this afternoon. Start of the game: Feeling pumped. Fully taking advantage of the split screen TV to watch both games. After LaRoche's Grand Slam: Beginning to get depressed. From about 5th to mid 8th inning: Came close to turn off the TV, feeling we're not going to come back. The Texans crappiness wasn't helping either. Bottom of the 8th: My heart definitely racing, going through all the possible scenarios of coming back throughout the inning. After the slam, I started to feel great again. Bottom of the 9th: Starting to feel that we're going to fall short after 2 outs and Ausmus at the plate. The announcers, being their ignorant selves, were talking about pinching hitting Jeff "I no longer have any power" Bagwell. But although I didn't mind Ausmus hitting there, I wasn't exactly thinking HR there either. After the HR, I thought the game was in the bag. After all, what are the odds of the Braves bullpen outpitching ours? Definitely feeling damn good right about now. From 10th-top of 18th inning: Frustration increases slowly as the Braves bullpen shuts us down for 7 innings. Starts wondering how did these guys we've killed all series long can dominate us. All sorts of horrible scenarios went through my head to during this time. "What if someone gets injured and Oswalt/Pettite has to play a position"? "Are we going to be screwed by having a catcher playing 1st?" "When Roger leaves, do we pitch Pettite and screw up game 5, or pitch Oswalt on no rest?" And then, the homer...
remember Chance's video from last year after Kent's HR to win it? well this is my rendition of it. Berkman's grand slam this time. click for a bunch of YEAHS and lots of shaking
