RocketFan007, Manny... I knew this stat was for the last 10 games. I just wanted to point out how you and others only like to say: "since the last 10 years" or "since the last 10 games"... but that's ok. Pick it... it's fun... to poke fun... :D

If you go back and read ANY of the latest Soccer threads, I have NEVER said we're BETTER than the U.S.

If you look at the last U.S. vs. Mexico WC qualifying thread, I even accepted we're NOT better. I don't know why you guys keep telling me or other Mexico supporters that we're saying we're tops.

AGAIN: this thread is about the U17 championships.

Thank you, david_rocket, for bringing it up. I knew Americans wouldn't want to, since it wasn't televised at all. NOT EVEN the U.S. Games were shown on English-speaking channels. How rude, man... support your own team, ESPN or ESPN2... I freakin' hate that crap... you Americans should be with me on that...

We use the stat since 2000, because that's usually around the accepted time that we stopped sucking at soccer.

Because you (Mexican fans in general) keep saying you're better. Look at NBAHOU713's post above.

Actually the games were televised in English on FSC. The Americans who actually cared about the tournament (like myself) got to see all of the United States' matches live.

If a midget wins the Midget Olympics, is he still a champion?

So is FSC standard on all cable networks? Or do you have to pay extra for it? Or do you get it only with higher-level pricing?

Dude, that's WRONG in any level.

Congrats to Mexico but this NOT the real deal! War Holland winning it all for the first time in '06. Ruud is looking sick, scoring goals at an amazing pace and Davids has been recalled to the National team. THe combination of youth, veteran leadership and one of the greatest players of all time (Marco Van Basten) as coach will propel them to the win.

Yeah, huh? How silly of FIFA to hold this "NOT the real deal" tournament... they shouldn't even PLAY, huh? Yeah, this is stooo-pid.

    :D I laugh.

WOW! I had no idea we had caught up to Mexico that much. I knew that the USA was getting better and better, and hell. The last world cup was awesome.

But damn. We have surpased Mexico IMO. USA definetly owns Mexico this millenium.

Didn't want to jump in however this whole last 10 games vs. all-time are both silly. to my knowledge the teams head2head are 1-1 going back at least a year, excluding friendlies. each team won at home.

you can't say the last 10 games because if you look at the rosters of some of those games there is a 80-90% turnover on both sides. and the lifetime records makes no sense for this argument.

if you want to argue who has a greater soccer history then it is mexico. if you want to argue who has performed better since last world cup than you can say usa. but who is better right now to me there is not enough info. this arguments cannot be made until next summer.

This type of reasoning makes no sense and is deeply flawed. Using this type of logic, all San Francisco Giant fans of MLB can say that if Barry Bonds had played the entire season in 2005, their team would have made it to the playoffs. Well guess what? Injuries and players not being able to play due to other reasons is a part of the game whether it is football (aka soccer), baseball, basketball, etc. Hell, if the 1996-97 Rockets could have kept Barkley, Olajuwon, and Drexler on the court at the same time for more than 30 games, they would have at least made the NBA Finals instead of the WC Finals. Close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.

    Guys,

Hate to say this, but I agree. In soccer, teams build their 'legacies' in the World Cup, on the world stage. That's where you earn your stripes, that's all that matters. Our boys made us proud in the last World Cup, and will hopefully build on that in the next one, and may be 10 years from now we will be ranking the USA as a contender along with the 'elites' of soccer (Brazil, Argentina, Germany, Italy, and others)

Congrats Swoly-D and other mexican fans. I was very happy with the third place for our dutch team. The dutch youth is playing great, the under 21 did great and now the u17:D.

i agree that most of these kids will not make the dutch national teams, but who knows.
(how come every soccer thread ends up in the discussion wether mexico or U.S. is the better soccer nation? it does't matter the dutch are better then both:D :p )
