    From Insider:

Joel (Houston TX): How Much will Pendrey help the Texans offensive if at all?

Jeff Reynolds: Joel, I'd say the changes will be clear-cut. Don't expect an elaborate, downfield offense. Instead, Pendry will bring in a short, high-percentage, West Coast-type passing offense that forces Carr to deliver the ball quickly on three-step drops. RB Domanick Davis becomes the focal point. The plan is to play it safe and let the defense become the dominant unit. Whether or not the talent level on this "D" can carries it weight ... not from what I've seen.

I tend to agree which to me is still conservative...However, if it becomes effective, it should open up the passing game which should make Andre happy...

We still lose against the Bengals...Our D isn't that good...

How much can an O coordinator really change over two weeks? And isn't all the "three step drop" stuff the same thing they droned about incessantly during the preseason? I doubt there will be much of a change and the Texans will still stink.

i don't know. i tend to agree with you. but i did hear them say that what went on in training camp and what happened in the games were entirely different. that in training camp they worked on the 3 step drop and speeding up the passing game..and they looked like a different team. but that come game time, palmer got away from it entirely. i don't know if that's true or not...but i've heard 3-4 different reports of that account.

Yeah, and our offense was really putting fear into the eyes of 2nd string defenses throughout the country those few weeks too! ;)

I sure hope this season isn't as long as it feels like it's gonna be for the Texans. I kinda feel like our defense is akin to the KC defense of last year - but at an even WORSE state. They change out the defensive coordinator but don't sign any new players (or better talent) and expect drastic changes. Results? One of the league's best offenses & one of the league's worst defenses. In our situation, though, we haven't even replaced the offensive coordinator with anything more than an interim guy.

Call me a pessimist, but I really don't expect much. Granted even if they kept Palmer, the offense would have HAD to play better later in the season (they couldn'tve played any worse!), but I don't see drastic improvement in our future. This season is a step in the WRONG direction.
