When I was a kid in the late 70's I remember looking through the Houston yellow pages and they had a history of the telephone with pictures of what a phone looked like through the years. Then they had a picture of a video phone and had "1984" under it, which was about 6 years away. Now 20 years after that even we still don't have video phone consoles in every home.

we've had "picture phone" technology for a long time, and it is used in some places. I think most people don't want it. Imagine having to look presentable just to answer the phone. At least these days, if you just got out of the shower, the person on the other end doesn't have to know for sure what that looks like.

 

Tell me about it. None of this Rogaine crap. You'd think the shampoo and hair cutting companies would be in it together to find a cure for the "folically challenged" like me.

A real cure for cancer.. I hope someday they can have a shot that anyone can take just like a flu shot that would make you better no matter how far along you are with cancer.. The same goes for AIDS..

 

I think it's going to be very hard to eliminate diseases like that. Some new mutation always comes. Nature's balancing act I guess.

Oil alternatives, definitely. You'd think that with current knowledge and wealth something could be done, but obviously the economy and/or the big boys don't want this.

I honestly believe that we have the technology to do this now. If space is a vacuum, ships could reach incredible speeds. This has more to do with funding than anything.

Although there is not an obvious cure for the cancer in its advanced stages, I believe we have come a long way in understanding ways to prevent and treat it.

Drug companies make WAY too much money off cancer for there to ever be a cure for it
