It seems like these certain types of chicks have an appeal: goth chicks, geek girls... maybe, for geek girls, you feel like they would appreciate you better, like you could bring them out of their shell? The intelligence has got to have some attraction too. I also suspect that those individuals who seem the most attractive would look a lot like the conventional "hot chicks" if you just removed the glasses and changed the clothes. I used to go for geek guys specifically because I felt like I had less chance of being rejected. That was when I was young; I know now that that's not a good motivation, and I don't really care anymore. I have been attracted to a lot more different types of guys than I ever thought possible, and that's probably good. (I still don't like the frat-boy type, though. Absolutely nothing in common in terms of our philosophies of life.) I don't really belong to a type myself. (other than Category 5 Hurricane - stay away if you know what's good for you ) Life is a buffet. If you can't sample all the selections, at least consider them all carefully. There's something for every taste. It's good that everyone doesn't like the same type of guy or girl.
If you want to know the truth, I pretty much know why. First, I find the sort of fair-skinned, funky, off-the-wall girls attractive. That's just me. Always have. Second, I find intellegence to be very attractive. I'm not big on women who aren't able to carry on an intellegent conversation. Third, there is something inherently sexy about quiet, slightly dark girls. Fourth, I like people who are different. I'm usually drawn to people who think outside the mainstream. Those would be the main reasons I guess. I'm sure there are psychological reasons as well (some of which you mentioned, Isabel) and that's ok too.

No, she was hot. No question. But, not in the traditional, typical way. There is definitely not that rule at all.
I hate how these kinds of threads always delve into something more intellectual like what do you like in a girl's personality. I want to participate, but then I would have to lie. A girl's personality and other non physical aspects are like the refreshments you have at a ball game. Yeah it would be nice if the nachos and sodas weren't overpriced and tasted good, but you don't goto a game for the food. If the food tastes good, and the game sux, you're gonna still wanna leave the game. If the game is good but the food sux, you're probably still gonna stay for the game =P
DAMN. You must go to a lot of games. Me, I always go to the same game, eat the same food. Oh, is the food good... is it GOOD...
And that may just be the way you are. If it is, it is, and it's good to be honest about it. However, it seems that all guys do not think that way. (I do expect that SwoLy-D is getting to go to more ballgames as you, though, and have more refreshments, even if it's always the same team playing and the same food. )
Yeah, what attracts me to them are their potentially hot and wild side trapped in their proper exteriors. It's the devil in me to find and release any forms of repression. Inteligence is cool and all, but that's more platonic than sexy....
But that's what makes the world go around - intelligence to me is an absolute turn on. For me a ton of makeup, for example, just makes me want to ask "what are you trying to hide"? Higher intelligence is one of the things that separates us from the common animal. The face paint and all is very similar to what every other animal uses to attract its mate. A woman that can use intelligence to attract is a lot more exceptional in my mind than one that slaps on a pound of makeup but can't carry a conversation about multiple topics.
