she is from san antonio, that is pretty much the only thing we disagree about. She loves the Astros, Longhorns, and Texans with me. The only "debate" we have is about the spurs. It doesnt help either that I cant stand the spurs. That being said, she goes to the Rocket games with me. We got our Tmac mini plan for this year and she is usually a good sport, except when the Rockets beat the spurs.
my g/f actually asks me about which games "we" would be attending. I guess there goes any plans of a guys night out! Anyways, we do enjoy watching them together. She isn't all into sports like I am, but she'll want to go with me because of the atmosphere, and watching me scream my head off and have people within a 10 seat radius stare at me. At any rate, she'll come and watch a few minutes when I'm watching a game or surfing sports sites. I'm actually glad because she can find her own things to do when I watch games or follow them on the internet. That gives me some privacy in the relationship that I definitely could use at times. She moved in a few months ago, and it really is the best thing to ever have happened. (The Rockets winning the championship this year as the start of a new dynasty would be very close)
My wife is not a huge basketball fan, but she does listen when I talk about the rockets. Her sport is baseball and she wants to make a 500 mi round trip to the Astros game Saturday to get an Astros Mr. Potato Head for our 4 yr. old. Now we hear the game has been moved back to 3 PM to accomodate Fox and we have to leave early. Sorry guys, had to vent
My wife is pretty good actually. She wants season tickets and watches most of the games with me. I've learned one thing though. If it is a blowout, change the channel, especially if it's not in Rocks favor. She will leave the room in a tiff if I refuse to change the channel. I've had to learn to keep my profanity down (which has been tough in recent years). She's great though. She also wathces Texans, Astros, and my Notre Dame games with me. I think half of her enjoyment is watching me act like a nut!
My wife bought me $1200 worth of rockets tickets and we live in Austin. Enough said. You have to get her excited about the rockets. Take here to a live game with lots of screaming fans. That is what I did.
haha..this reminds me of a funny incident during game 3 or 4's playoff versus dallas...my gfriend was crying and threatening to break up during the 4th quarter over some girl calling me....and im still watching my game...doing a half ass job of trying to console her...not good enough..so she starts packing her bags and walks towards the door...now this starts to really piss me off...since im missing my game..and my half ass job isnt actually working...so i just let her walk out the door... i guess i never loved her enough..oh well...wait..or i just love my rockets too much...
Am I the only one who got this innuendo hardcourt and softcourt joke? Good one, coolweather. I second the dandorotik post about the chick flick stuff. I DO watch these flicks and enjoy the way Kate Hudson or that hunk of a guy from Sweet Home Alabama end up after a movie and... uhhh... never mind... My wife's favorite team is the Knicks. I love the Rockets. She doesn't watch it since she has to "study", but I know she's just thinking about how the night will end. We just end up making ANGRY S-E-X if the Rockets lose. I love this country!
My GF supports my sports watching habits. Fortunately she grew up in Houston also so is a fan of all of my teams. It bothers me sometimes when she and futant's wife are talking about how cute a player is when there's 2 minutes left in an important game, but I'm lucky she's a fan and doesn't mind me watching sports WAY too much. Bring on basketball season. The Texans are KILLING me.
tivo and dedication. during the games i make sure i don't get a score then watch the games either before everyone wakes up or after they are asleep.
TiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVoTiVo Did I mention TiVo? By the way, she will instintively hate everything you love that does not directly involve worshiping her. So at some point you will just have to tell her to get over it. My two cents worth and yes I am still married
my girlfriend woldn't even know which end of the ball to hold. Maybe I should introduce her to Mr Head !
The lady friend understands that I've been a fan since childhood, so it's no biggie whn there's a rockets game i have to catch. When it's playoff time she puts up a good front to her friends about how she watches the playoff games with me but in reality i usually have to send her to another room b/c she keeps wanting me to flip the channels during games. Then maybe in the last minutes she'll watch, but if its close and it comes to a last second shot, she says it's too stressful to watch. Females...[psshhh]
I have to say that I am a very lucky person, in more than one way when it comes to my significant other. When we met I was a Rocket fanatic, but since we've been together we've been season ticket holders for 4 years now. I'm very fortunate that she enjoys watching (and hearing about) the Rockets. What would I do without her?!? Pugs
Wow... no kidding, huh? This might be the funniest most clever post I've ever read on this site in the 5 years or so I've been a lurker/member. Just hillarious! Much props! Call me a romantic, but has this whole thread has been so nice, funny and refreshing.
A most tragic concession. Best of luck to you. Every woman in my life, from mother to relatives, has been a sports fan. The rockets are no different. God bless. ps: How do I operate bit torrent to watch the games that are posted (ie Game one of the 94 finals)
It sucks to be you at this point... Just tell her not to make you choose between something you love and some one you love because you'll end up resenting her for the rest of your lives! Then promise you'll make it up to her and do so in grand style... Finally, get her to be open minded and go to a game or two with you... I had to "game train" my wife this way... Now she attends the games with me, tapes the games for me and watches them even if I am not there! Life is Good!
