Hey guys, trying to figure out what satellite TV to get. I live in the DC area. First, I'm trying to decide between DISH and DirecTV.

The more important problem right now is this: with DISH, I can get a package that includes many FSN channels...including Fox Sports Net Southwest. If I get all the Rockets games there, I'd skip out on League Pass this year.

BUT...I remember in Austin, FSNSW was broadcasting Spurs games. Does anyone know if I'd get Rox games, Spurs games, or a mix of the two if I got the one FSNSW channel out here?

(looking it up on Wikipedia seemed to imply that there's a FSN-Houston network in the Houston area that feeds into FSNSW, and everyone else gets the "main" FSNSW feed..which would suck)

    Thanks!

If you're out of the Houston area, you will not get the games without the league pass, regardless of whether or not you get FSSW or FSH. They will be blacked out on those stations.

I had League Pass last year so I didn't pay much attention to it but I beleive that most of the Rockets games were shown on FSNSW. They did have an alternate channel that the games would show on sometimes so it could be that the main FSNSW channel was the general feed and they just put specific games on the alternate. If they aren't shown on FSNSW there's the possibility that the FSN station for the team we are playing against will be showing the game (Suns on FSN Arizona), you just wouldn't have Worrell/Clyde/Bullard for commentators.

DirecTV has the same package were you get all of the FSN channels and it includes NBATV who will be showing a few Rockets games this season.

If you're out of the Houston market and have not purchased League Pass, you will not get the Rockets game regardless of whether or not you have the package that gives you all the FSN stations and what not. I have heard people making their billing address in Houston when they live out of town and getting them that way, however.

That sounds good...did you see that somewhere outside the Houston area (or better yet, outside Texas?)

edit: Never mind, based on Rocketman's response
