The start of training camp is hardly far away. And before you know it, the start of the regular season will arrive. So why not have a little fun projecting who might walk away with the season's awards? Check it out!

    MVP
Top candidates: Baron Davis, Kobe Bryant, T-Mac, Amare Stoudemire

Baron is coming off an injury-plagued season in which he killed fantasy owners everywhere (Dime crew included). The main issue is whether he can remain healthy for an entire season. If he does, then he's in line to have a monster campaign with Golden State. If they sneak into the playoffs behind a healthy Baron, an MVP award is not out of the question.

Kobe's always going to be a viable MVP candidate year in and year out. Last season he and Lamar Odom missed a combined 34 games. You know Kobe's dying to erase the memory of last year's mess and will take it upon his shoulders to get his Lakers back in the mix.

Tracy is in a rare position. This year's Houston squad is arguably the best team he has ever been a part of. They've added Stromile Swift to their frontcourt and Derek Anderson to the backcourt. This should allow Tracy to spend less time initiating the offense and allow him to focus more on scoring. And of course there's always Yao. We know for a fact that Tracy's been keeping up with Yao in the off-season, checking up on his strength and conditioning

No Duncan, Shaq, Lebron, or Garnett on the list?

yeah this is a strange list.
The only reason Kobe or Baron Davis( ) can be MVP is if their them becomes one of the best in the nba. And both teams are not even close. Both teams will have trouble getting into the play offs. And not including Duncan and Garnett is just strange.

I agree, Baron is way too high. People don't usually get MVPs just for getting their teams into the playoffs...if Baron did it for GS, it would be quite an accomplishment....but not MVP stuff. (If he got the Warriors the championship somehow, though, it would be another story..., as if that was ever happening :p )

Last season T Mac already had MVP like performance. If the team had made it to top 3 in the west T Mac would have had a good chance against Nash. Same can be said for this year.

This list is just silly. Tracy McGrady is the only person on it who is a viable candidate. Honestly, the only players that I can imagine beating him for the award are Tim Duncan, Dwyane Wade and Lebron James (should the Cavs have a great season). Kevin Garnett is always great but I expect the T-Wolves to suck this year. Amare Stoudamire could be a candidate if the Suns duplicate their success this season, but I don't expect they will. Jermaine O'neal could be in the running if the Pacers are good and he remains healthy. That's about it.
