No to Stoops, please. Did we not learn anything from Steve Spurrier? Not to say they are the same, but let's bring in a guy with better NFL coaching experience.

Don't want Shanahan either...what has he and the Broncos done since Elway retired?

The only names here (in this thread) that I think should be considered are Al Saunders (KC OC), Jerry Gray, and Jeff Fischer...should he be fired.

    Well said.

I'm hoping we go for Jeff Fisher. I always liked the guy.

    Pete Carroll

....and shoot for Matt Leinert while at it.

Forgive me for sounding like a broken record

at www.profootballtalk.com which is a well placed rumor site, they are talking about possible candidates that McNair would possibly look at. His requirements seem to be a young coach with nfl coaching experience. For example Haslett or Fisher.

Not sure how good Carroll will be in the NFL again but I sure would love Leinert in a Texans uniform. Trade Carr to the Dolphins for their #1 :D

Do you really think Leinart will be significantly better than Carr with our line? I'm not a huge fan of Carr anymore, but he's not the only problem.

of course not; losing brings out the casual fan and the casual fan likes to spout off about how much they think they know when all they really accomplish is reveal how much they don't know.

trade, release - hell, drive carr to a field and leave him for dead - nothing is going to work until they start at the top and fix EVERYTHING that's broken: casserly, capers, and the lack of talent across the board on both sides of the ball. i think it's silly that everyone's talking about carr, and looking towards the draft - you want this group to get their hands on another "franchise" QB?

the same group that in 4 years can't find, teach or perform pass blocking? the same group that can't rush the QB? the same group that STILL doesn't recognize the value a TE brings to a young QB? the same group that continues to trot domonaick davis onto the field despite the fact he couldn't pick up a blitz if he was given a map, a compass and detailed instructions? yeah, let's draft leinart - he'll make EVERYTHING better....

you're better off scouting junior and senior QBs... in high school, because it could very well be years before they fix this thing.

Whoever we get, we need someone who has no problem cutting players after a lousy game to send the message to the other players that screwing up won't be tolerated.

I know why Jimmy Johnson is mentioned several times. if he was coach right now then Buchanon and possibly Babin would have been cut, not just benched. He's done it a few times in Dallas, although he knows which players to keep even after screw ups, ie. Leon Lett. It's that eye for talent and how to mold that talent that we are missing. Casserly, he's had his hits and misses in the draft, I am not impressed with Capers coaching and the progress the players are making under his eye.

No college coach impresses me right now. I do have a soft spot for Jeff Fisher as he was making strides each successive year in the league and seems to have had good control of the team he's coaching, it's just that he's taking a hit now because of salary cap issues.

Carroll, yes. Leinart over Carr? Only if DC gets a high high pick back.

The last thing we need to do is waste another top pick reaching for a QB. We messed up not getting Julius Peppers.

Gary Kubiak - More offense for this offense-less team. Fresh, new head coach.

Jerry Gray - More defense. Fresh, new head coach. Ties to Houston.

Either one, both would be fun.

Jeff Fisher would be the guy if the Titans make the mistake of letting him go. The Titans need Fisher because he is great at developing his young players and the Titans are the youngest team in the league. It isn't his fault the Titans are not a great team. They just got into salary cap hell. Half the cap is being used on players no longer with the Titans. I think he will still be with the Titans, but if available, you take him.

Wheres Jim Mora Sr. when you need him?

Jim Mora Sr. : Playoffs? Don't talk about playoffs. Are you kidding me? Playoffs? I'm just hoping we can win a game, another game.

    Playoffs!?!?!?!!

He's probably the motivation we need....
