gr8-1, do not EVER squirt your cats with a water gun. First off it's a mean thing to do to your pet and secondly, cats are smarts. They'll learn if you discipline them.

Here's what she had to say....leave them alone...they will work it out. They have to
establish a "pecking order"...don't worry they probably will not hurt each
other...just avoid each other for a while. Since they are both fairly young
they should work it out within a week or two and probably end up being
    buddies.

dude, there's nothing wrong with using a squirt gun.

funny story, my mom owns a lot of cats now, and she has one that loves cars. On more than one occasion that cat has jumped into the cars without the carowner knowing. And of course the car owners are surprised when they come back to their car to see a cat sitting at the steering wheel like toonces the driving cat. And one time the cat jumped on my mom's car hood and didn't jump off when she started moving. She knows the cat's fascination with cars isn't safe so she passed out water guns to the neighbors and so that if the cat gets in/on the car and wont get out/off, they can spray the cat.

I have a squirt gun in my car too, but I've only used it to squirt my wife [IMG]

When I need to discipline an out-of-line feral feline, I like to put oranges in a sack and hit them with that. It gets their attention and doesn't leave any bruises.

Pimp, what does your girlfriend think of the bag of oranges trick. [IMG]

seriously, I know at least 6 people who squirt water at cats.

You probably shouldn't do anything about the biting. That is normal behavior for kittens. As they get older, they will stop but, if they don't, you can discourage them then.

I have had a couple of cats that bit until they were about 2 and then really calmed down. Kittens like to play and biting is one of the ways they do that.

Define "discipline". I find it hard to believe that respected animal protection agencies like the Humane Society and SPCA would suggest something they found to be cruel and they do suggest the water gun.

I'm not talking about a super soaker, just a simple old fashioned squirt gun.

What does your girlfriend consider an alternative form of discipline?
