Riding it out in Spring. By the time it gets up here, even if its a cat 5 when it hits, damage to the area should be minimal.
Wow, LonghornFan....be safe. My parents and my sis live in Stinkadena....they're coming up to Dallas.
We're not in the flood plane whatsoever, so I'll take a valium and and ride out the winds. As long as the family stays safe all else can and will be replaced.
My dad wanted to leave, but when the reality of no rooms left set in, he realized what my brother, my mom, and myself have known, we've got ride this shiat out. According to channel 2, it looks like we are in the 75 mph winds zone in a worst case scenario.
Well I decided to stay behind while my mom and grandmother fled to Seguin to some family there. Gonna take care of the fort and keep an eye out on my neighbors next door (and them me) and probably head to my gf's house once the storm passes. Try and get some crazy ass vid while I'm at it (damn RTF blood running through my veins that I gotta stay and get some footage ) See how things are tomorrow though
1960/veterans area here. i want to bail b/c our 'hood (yes i live in the ghetto) was pretty bad during allison. not total flood but the streets were flooded and it reached to our garage. everyone else is wanting to ride it out or want to leave late (my mom)..like friday night late. i'm like "mom...might as well just sit here then" i hope we'll be okay since we're sorta north (about 30 miles from UH). i'll pray for south houston /galveston tonight because i know they'll get hit much worse.
Ch 2's Billingsly is saying the line has moved a litte more toward Freeport and going right over my house in Richmond. Man, I hope that b**** keeps moving a little more up the coast.
I'm here in oak forest neighborhood, a suburb in nw Houston, and will be riding her out. stay safe everyone.
I was till Billingsly's report 20 minutes ago. Winds in Houston at 110mph for 10 - 12 hours with numerous tornados? gotta go! I rode out Alicia in the Woodlands, I even walked outside when the eye went over my house, trust me there is nothing fun or adventurous about it. I think I'll leave at 6 AM Friday to get behind the traffic and in front of the squall lines. I'll go up to Longview to stay with Mom Vaya Con Dios
I'll be in Houston Saturday morning, for sure. Hopefully, I'll be able to catch my flight because Rita hit somewhere far, far away. But I'll be here on Friday night. Hurricane in one hand, 'Rita in the other.
my fam is from pasadena and they're going to austin to stay with my parents. i don't know how they are going to fit 8 extra people in our house but hey you do what you have to. to those thinking of riding it out...please don't...if you can get out, do it. this is looking to be an AWFUL storm. 3rd strongest EVER recorded...please leave if possible. i hope it weakens and doesn't hit the city dead on that's all we can pray for.
