You should convince them to go west and not north. places like austin where i am at will not get much of anything. just remind them that the western side of the cane is not as strong.
FREAKIN U of H NEEDS TO CLOSE DOWN SO I CAN ESCAPE TO DALLAS ...i am sitting here waiting to hear news from the school..hopefully traffic wont be too bad
So if i go to Waco then I will be safe? Sending my folks to Austin (if I can convince them to leave...old folks don't listen).
Here's the latest on all the computer models: http://maps.wunderground.com/tropical/tracking/at200518_model.html It looks like she's moving south, which is good for Houston. Hurricane force winds are only extending out 45 miles from the eye at this point. They said even if it strengthens to a category 5 at sea, it could still weaken down to a 3 before landfall.
right....thats the same one they had posted this morning....what Im wondering is how often they update the models....The next models should be a better indicator of if it will remain south of us. lets cross our fingers...Im gonna wait this out and pray for it to stay south and west of here. just got finished moving all the stuff from the backyard into the garage...gotta go gert some wood today for the windows.
No surprise, i was up until 2am last night studying for a mangement test that was canceled this morning. UH looked half empty today.
you're right..it COULD weaken. but guys, if this thing strengthens to a Cat 5 and has nearly an equal chance of going in at Freeport as it does at Matagorda...you're nuts to stick around and watch it. you can't wait till it makes landfall to say, "oh, ok..now we'll leave."
I work at the University. The Provost Office will be sending out the official message later via email. UH On call (713-743-2255) states that the University will close at NOON.
Oh I wasn't suggesting not leaving. Sorry if it came off that way. I'm flying to Vegas tomorrow, so I'll be nowhere near this thing!
Got word from my boss who talked directly to the provost's office. I assure you I will be going home at NOON.
Where did you hear that and is that just central? or does that include all other UH campuses as well? UHD? UHCL?
Does anybody have a picture of the projected paths??? They've been changing and it's going further south now. Brace yourselves, South Padre Island and Brownsville!!!
