Rocket pick gets dunked at the end of this article: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2166845&num=0 Vassilis Spanoulis, Greece (Drafted No. 50 by the Dallas Mavericks in 2004; rights owned by Houston Rockets Stats: 3.7 ppg, 1.7 rpg The skinny: Figured as one of the role players for Greece in the first two games but barely took to the court against Bosnia Herzegovina. Grade: D- Simon Wilkinson writes for The Press Association in Europe.
Thats kinda weird for him not getting any playing time. He was said to be really good and then some European team offered him alot of money because of his performance and CD also had good things to say about him. And now all sudden he sucks?? Dont get it!!
His lack of playing time is understandable, 'cause he is third point guard in Greek team. First is Panathinaikos BC player Dimitrios Diamantidis, 6-6 PG who is best playmaker so far in tournament. His averages after last night win over Israel, where he collected only 2 points are: Points per game 6.8; rebounds per game 6.0; assists per game 6.5; steals per game 3.0; minutes per game 33. There is not a lot of time for another PG. But Greeks played with 3 guards, so some playing time got another PG from CSKA Moscow - Theodoros Papaloukas, 6-7 PG, who averages 19,3 minutes. And Vasileios Spanoulis got 12,5 minutes per game.
He played 4 games, but versus Bosnia & Herzigovina he played just 1 minute. Overall he has poor numbers in his limited playing time. He doesn't shoot well and he's averaging 1 turnover per game with only 0.3 assists per game. Not so good EC for our Mike James lite. But it's hard to get any rythmn when you just play second backup.
Bostjan Nachbar, Slovenia Stats: 13.0 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 1.3 apg The skinny: The New Orleans Hornets swingman has shown he can provide what they have been missing since Jamal Mashburn, Baron Davis and David Wesley were traded -- some scoring punch. He is struggling from downtown, having converted only two of 13 attempts so far. But it shouldn't really be of concern, considering he shot 38 percent from the American 3-point distance last season.
