    FOOZER!

God bless that there is still at least one real rock band still left in the world. Forgotten how much I love the show that Grohl & Co put on. Weezer was a blast too - first time seeing them since 97. Awesome pairing. Big thing I appreciated: unlike too many other bands (I'm looking at you, David Matthews), neither group felt the need to overload their set with weak material from their new album.

    Weezer (onstage 7:45 pm)
    • Don't Let Go
      My Name is Jonas
      Garage
      This is Such a Pity
      Why Bother
      Perfect Situation
      El Scorcho :)
      Say It Ain't So
      All on Drugs
      intro-->Beverly Hills-->Buddy Holly
      Photograph (drum outro)
      ----------------------------
Island in the Sun (Rivers solo, in middle of pavilion)
Undone (fan brought up from the pit to play acoustic since Rivers returning, actually did great)
      Hashpipe
      Surf Wax America :)
    (offstage 9:00)

    Foo Fighters (onstage 9:30)
    • In Your Honor-->One by One-->My Hero-->jam
      Best of You-->Up In Arms-->Learn to Fly-->Last Song-->Only One
Stacked Actors (Dave goes to sdb during song and does a call and response jam)(jammed out tremendously - this is one of their best songs live)
Everlong (solo electric, crazy-awesome laser/fog effect)
more Dave speak - coolest guy in the biz
      DOA
Born on the Bayou (Creedence Clearwater Revival cover, for Katrina)
      Gas Chamber (super rare)
      Breakout
      -------------------
      Dave speak/meet the band
Cold Day in the Sun (Taylor on vocals, Dave on drums)
      mini jam
      Monkey Wrench
    (off stage 10:55)

    Final notes:
Both had awesome lighting effects, best I've seen in awhile.
Weezer stomped Foo in the T-shirt category, wife's fav was: 'Rocking the b****es Since 1994'

Sounds like it was a great show... I too think Dave Grohl is one of the "coolest guy(s) in the biz" - I see him on TV and I just wanna party with that guy!!

Damn you, I really wanted to go to this show. Sounds like I missed a good one. I'll just have to be comforted in knowing that I'm going to see NIN next month. :)

I would've liked to go to this show. It's hard for me to go see people other than Dave. They normally play for as long as this entire show was.

Damn. That is a kickass set by both bands. I'm going to the Austin show at the Erwin Center tonight. Only question is, why no Sweater Song by Weezer?

So not one song from Maladroit?

I wouldn't mind going and leaving after Weezer, but not sure I'd want to pay for it.

    Undone (The Sweater Song)

As to DMB, I was at 5 of their shows this year, and only one of those was better than this (Randalls Island night 1, NYC), IMO. But that's all relative to the individual. Both bands crammed in as many songs (including WAY more favorites) in half the time as DMB did in their 2.5 hr Woodlands show, and both were more energetic and exciting. I like DMB as much as anyone, but I would strongly recommend you avoid closing yourself into just one band. To insert an apropos quote:
    If you hold on tight
To what you think is your thing
You may find you're missing all the rest

Evan|none of the above should be taken as a jab or insult or attack

Great concert yesterday, and I must say that the Woodlands Pavilion is a pretty nice place. I actually had seats near the center, but ended up hanging out w/ some friends in the lawn.

    Emjohn,

Are you going to the Oasis concert? Also not sure if you got that flyer yesterday at the concert about offering Oasis lawn tickets for 10 bucks.

I defintely don't close myself into one band. There are many bands that I like to see or would love to see, but I was just commenting on the amount of time they were on stage. I'm used to 2.5 hours by one group, not an hour and 15 minutes.

I really enjoyed the show, we left about three songs into the Foo set, Weezer was awesome, their set was a perfect mix of new and old stuff. Great show.

i agree. and i love the foo fighters (everlong may be my favorite pure rock song). but when i go to other concerts i'm amazed how few songs are played. saw counting crows a few summers back...they're among my very favorite bands ever...they played like 6-7 songs. so short. DMB spoils their fans with their setlists. They're long. And the songs are extended, of course.

Go check out the setlist from 9/11! If I had been at that show, it may have been my last one ever...that can't be topped!

I'm with you on Everlong, btw (sorry for the derailment guys). I really wish now I would've gone to the show. Could've had tickets for $30.

I gotcha. This was a double-bill though, so it's going to be shorter than usual sets for both bands. Neither set felt short though, they really packed them tight.
Yeah, that looks like a cool lineup Kasabian-Jet-Oasis. I probably won't go since I'll be at ACL that weekend, and all 3 are playing there as well.

Ah...makes sense. That's probably why the Counting Crows set that MM was referring to was so short.

This show does appear to be rather short. DMB spoils their fans, but many of those songs are monotonous and put you to sleep unless you're stoned.

Everlong is a damn good song, as is Monkeywrench.
