http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2160811&CMP=OTC-DT9705204233 Shaq helps Miami police make arrest Associated Press MIAMI BEACH, Fla. -- Shaquille O'Neal provided an assist to police over the weekend, trailing a man who allegedly assaulted a gay couple before alerting an arresting officer. The 7-foot-1 Miami Heat center, who is in the process of becoming a Miami Beach reserve officer, was driving on South Beach around 3 a.m. Sunday. He saw a passenger in a car yell anti-gay slurs at the couple, who were walking, said Bobby Hernandez, a spokesman for the Miami Beach Police Department. The man then got out of the car and threw a bottle, hitting one of the pedestrians, who was not seriously hurt. The man got back in the car, which sped off. O'Neal followed, flagging down an officer who made an arrest, Hernandez said. Michael Gonzalez, 18, was arrested on charges of aggravated assault and assault with a deadly weapon. The driver of the car was not charged. O'Neal, who hopes to be a police chief or county sheriff one day, was already being fitted for his Miami Beach police uniform before he helped the police out. "For this incident I don't want to be credited as an individual who does police work," O'Neal said in a statement. "I want to be credited as a Miami Beach police officer."
Grew up and made a move from Disney World to the Hollywood scene. Matured enough get involved in GTA scene. While always having NBA to fall back on. Not a bad career progression.
Amazing...maybe Shaq's not such a clown after all. How many current or retired NBA players with his money would be pursuing a career in law enforcement?
OK, maybe I don't understand because I don't have that coveted Master's from Phoenix University Online, so somebody please explain this quote to me...
I think he wants to be known as an actual police officer, not just somebody who is in it for the thrills.
I ran into Shaq in Vegas a few years back at the Venetian Hotel. He is one big dude. If I was a criminal and saw him coming I would be afraid.....
Helping the police arrest some violent A-hole and maybe intercepeting him from actually hurting an innocent bystander a snitch? You make it sound like he reported his neighbor to the home owners board about a visable direct TV dish from Shaq's 4th floor or something. Please explain?
Man, i really hope i don't ever get pulled over with an unopened 12 pack in my car. I mean, that's 12 deadly weapons just right there. What's the jail time on that? In the mean time, i'll just keep my glock 27 under my seat.
Damn it. Again, Shaq goes and makes it harder for me to hate him. Who was it that was saying he's hard to hate? MacFan? I'm starting to have to agree. You b*stard.
