Decided to check out the Thai movie "Ong Bak" it has been out for a while in Asian market. Blockbuster and Hollywood started carrying it starting last week. If you do decide to get it and watch it, make sure to go to features and turn on Thai dialogues with English subtitles. English dubbing is laughable. Some of the action scenes are insane. Tony jaa demonstartes Thai martial arts of Muay Thai. The forms and use of elbows and knees are deadly. Definately some of the best action sequqnces in a movie in a while. Acting and story line is typical of a martial arts movie, leaving a lot to be desired. But Tony jaa more than makes up for it. Go rent it and then you can debate who would win if Tony jaa and Jet Li were to go head to head.
Ong Bak was one of the more entertaining movies I've seen in a while. Just remember that the plot of the movie isn't the point. Tony Jaa is insane, his stunts are literally jaw-dropping. Rent this movie for sure.
saw it just yesterday, pretty nice but storyline is weak, as most other fighting movies are, i do wonder how they can sustain all that force to their elbows and kness, especially that droping-elbow-to-the-head-move, i mean seriously, when you are like 35 or 40 you arent gona be able to walk or move your limbs anymore.
This movie bleeds cheese. From the ridiculous storyline to the golf cart taxi chase, the production value is bottom of the barrel. Tony Jaa does redeem it with some good moves. But then they keep showing the same moves over and over in different camera angles is damn annoying. Movie = D Action = A-
hahaha the action moves make up for the very predictable (boring) story. But some of the scenes are straight cheesy. Movie C Action A Story F J
