I'm very interested in seeing this, but I believe it's a hit or miss. I was just wondering if I could get some opinions on it as people from the BBS go out and see it. It comes out today(Friday).
I'm wanting to see this movie. I think this is a fascinating subject. On the ads I've see they run a URL for the movie that is different from the movie title. Anybody know it?
http://www.whathappenedtoemily.com but it just points to the official site http://www.sonypictures.com/movies/theexorcismofemilyrose/index.html
My wifes cousin, Jeff Betancourt, is the movie editor...I guess, IRT movie, that makes me an official...nothing...
Dude, he edited Harold and Kumar go to White Castle... he's my hero! http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0079111/
I've actually seen one review which gave The Man a better review then Emily Rose. Which is disappointing because there is a good story here which obvioiusly either the director or writer botched. If anyone is interested in reading the story of the real Emily Rose, which is Anneliese Michel, you can check it out here http://horror-movies.ca/horror_1253.html
Gonna check this movie out tomorrow. I think the main reason the movie has been getting negative reviews is because of the marketing. The advertising is kind of putting this out as a straight horror type flick, however from what I've heard it's more of a court room drama dealing with both sides, religon vs. medicine, being shown in flash backs, i.e. a scene will be shown twice, one through the doctors point of view and the other through the religious view point.
Just in case anyone was curious, here's a link to the a story that recounts the events of the actual event that happen in the 70's. http://www.moviesonline.ca/movienews_1253.html
So, and exorcism was actually tried....the girl died, and they later found she wasnt possesed? So did she die of disease then? Are exorcisms still performed today? I dont think I'll see the movie, its rated PG-13, if it was R I might, cuz then it could show more gruesome stuff, so I got a feeling it will be a bust. I'm just curious as to what made the priests believe she was possesed, I mean did they just not think she was maybe going crazy at some point? This was in the 70's right?
I dont want to spoil the movie for you but I just watched it and I thought it was great ... very well made. all the kids in the theater were kind of annoying but the movie was pretty good. I would give it a B and a movie I might want to watch again without all the stupid kids. If your expecting a straight horror flick then you might be disappointed. J
Here is a recording of a 'real' exocism in Russia: link Who knows if it's actually real or not ~ pretty creepy I guess...
Geez FlyerFanatic and TMac640...I know this isn't the new Harry Potter book or anything, but at least TRY to put a spoiler alert in there...A few people might want to see the movie now that it's doing well at the box office. What bugs me is that they're promoting this is a horror flick, but I've heard that it's really a courtroom drama with one scary scene in it...
its actually a lil bit of both.. but more pschological thriller with quite a few scary moments. I think people were expecting a straight horror flick in the vein of exorcist which it is not but still good in its own right. People I saw the movie with all enjoyed it. J
Same here, I thought the movie was very well made and stayed pretty far away from the Exoricist cliches. The movie is totally advertised in the wrong manner, more of a court room drama.
The fiancee' and I both enjoyed it. Not a true horror movie but enought scary scenes to freak you out when you wake up at exactly 3:00 AM (like I did last night)...
