OK, this isn't a FOR or AGAINST thread... The questions are and it may be mainly for those against the file sharing thing, although I'm for and am actually starting this thread! Do you think file sharing will ever be controlled? Will there ever be an end to these kinds of legal, free programs on the internet? I had posted a reply in the "Still using Napster" thread about me checking out this imesh program. Man, this thing is SCARY! I don't understand why the industry went after Napster? Through imesh you find Audio, Video, Images, AND Documents! As far as copyrights are concerned, its even worse. It only made think at how outta control this whole thing is and probably will continue to be. Oh, then theres programs, ironically invented by some 20 year old internet whiz (sound familar?), called SONGBIRDOOOOOOOh, targeting Napster...again and saving all copyrightdom from damnation! Anyhow, whatdya think? ------------------ "Beware the lollipop of mediocrity. Lick once and you suck forever."
Imesh is from Isreal, if I remember correctly. There are no laws in Isreal to stop Imesh. There is no way to stop file sharing from outside the USA. As I have stated before, Napster is only the beginning. Look for an explosion of underground file sharing. The only way to stop it, is if the music industry sits up and takes notice that consumers are tired of being told what to buy. ------------------ "Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored."- (Aldous Huxley)
I am for paying up to $10 per month to get Napster up and running again. Imesh is nowhere near as convenient and easy to use as Napster. It also doesn't have many users. I am against keeping these free. BTW, I use Imesh, but only download songs from CD's I already own. ------------------ Never Underestimate the Heart of a Champion
Why don't you just rip them yourself? That way you can control the bit rate yourself and it'll be faster than downloading. You also get to make sure the download doesn't cut off in the middle, etc. ------------------
When you rip songs from CD's, they turn into .wav files and are huge, usually ten times the size of a .mp3 file. ------------------ Never Underestimate the Heart of a Champion
i don't how you're ripping your files vj, but mine turn into MP3 files and are about a meg or so depending on song length. i use MusicMatch to rip my files. rH ------------------ visit: The Psychedelic Groove House of Rockets Basketball Love!
Yeah, I don't know what ripper you're using but I got this free shareware program called CDex. It converts to both WAV and MP3. Better yet, heres a wonderful link to CD Rippers...hep yo self! Oh yeah, and this sight has a bunch of stuff too! Here ya go! ------------------ "Beware the lollipop of mediocrity. Lick once and you suck forever."
