i think texas is the better team and will win despite it being on the road. i usually go into games against top notch teams thinking loss like oklahoma the last 5 years but for some reason i have a good feeling about this one.

I think Ohio State will win... Vince youg doesnt have accuracy and the longhorns running back is suspect. With the loss of Johnson on defense not sure if Wright can handle ohio state's Gin( spelling?). They can whoop on unranked programs around the state but this will be the true test to see if this is their year.

It all depends on whether Ohio State's defense can contain Vince Young.

I say Horns win, 21-13. Hook Em'!!!

I think the Horns will blow them out. Ohio St's offense stinked all last year with the exception of the last few games. Ohio St has some good LBs, but nobody in college can contain the man child VINCE YOUNG! Hookem horns!

Texas always seems to choke when they have a chance at the National championship.

I hope Vince can break that cycle.

    GO HORNS !!

Let me count the ways I think that statement is absolutely wrong.

    1. VY has proven to be absolutely uncontainable when running the ball (ask Michigan)
    2. VY has a 60% completion percentage
    3. Texas averaged 300 yards RUSHING in 2004 with the same O-line and QB
    4. Texas was ranked 2nd in the nation in total rushing (behind Rice) in 2004
    5. Texas rushed for 418 yards in it's first game of 2005
    6. Texas has the most dominant offensive line in the nation

Not to pick on you RocketsFanSam, but the only thing that's suspect with the running game is the true freshmen holding onto the ball...and I can assure you that's the 2nd problem that will be addressed this week in practice. #1 being the kicking game.

There is not team in the nation that can match us running the ball. NONE. We have so many weapons to attack with, in so many directions...and nearly everyone who touches the ball has the skills to take it to the house. I believe Texas is uncontainable rushing the ball...and when you bring 8 or 9 into the box, which is what Ohio State surely will do...Vince Young will simply introduce the nation to David Thomas, All-American tight end, who makes a habit of burning defenders cheating up to contain VY. What makes Texas such an interesting team is their ability to force the run down anyone's throat...thereby forcing other teams to cheat to stop the run...which opens up the playbook and allows us to be two-dimensional.

I'm going to that game on Saturday...and I can't wait to see the wake of carnage we leave behind.

It will be violent in the trenches.

    Hookem.

Oh and another thing...for those of you who may not be huge Longhorn fans, you may want to watch Texas as some point this year. We've got a kid from Grapevine named Henry Melton. He's a tailback who've 6'3" 275lbs...with skills and light feet. Dude is an athletic freak.

Finally got my tickets yesterday. Had to pay a pretty penny, but I'll be sitting in Section 29A, row 6. Should be a awesome game.

    You lucky, lucky man.

I can't concentrate this week. I'm having a tough time at work and every time I get a spare moment, I just fantasize about this game.

    I need help.

If we win, I may drink myself into a hysterical fit in downtown Houston.

If we lose, I may drink myself to death alone in my living room.

Don't worry. Our defense this year is the best it's ever been in the past 20 years. Frank Okam is a one-man wrecking crew. Expect Chizik to throw in a mixture of various blitz packages designed to confuse defenses. Good thing about that is that our DBs, especially Michael Huff, are good enough to limit Ohio State's big plays. We ran a very vanilla scheme against ULL, but expect some neat things Saturday night from our revamped D. Another name to remember: Drew Kelson. This guy won the starting SLB spot, and just loves to hit people. Should be fun to watch.

On offense, Vince gives us the ability to keep the chains moving on 3rd down, something that we struggled with in the Simms/Applewhite era. He can easily get you that 1st down on 3rd and 3. Also, having a TE like David Thomas to dump it to on roll outs is a beautiful luxury. Granted Hawk and Carpenter are good, but they're going to have their hands full. I figure a healthy dose of Jamaal Charles and Henry Melton, mixed in with some play action to Ramonce Taylor should be enough to handle the Bucks. Scoring an early TD will go a long way.

I think both defenses will be way ahead of the standard offenses. The rub here is VY can put up points even when the designed plays fail, and I think he will need to.

UT should win as long as TOs or special teams don't lead to Buckeye scores, 20-10 UT win.

I think UT will beat OU as well, but I am worried UT slips later in conference (OSU in particular) on their opponents' best day.

I think Ohio State will win. The teams are pretty even on D and UT has a great rushing attack but I dont think UT can contain Teddy Ginn Jr. I think at some point he will make a great play and change the game. The home field will also make a big difference. I am going to the game and look forward to a great one.

    OSU has always been overrated.

Texas wins, and I don't even think it's close. The game is won in the trenches, and Texas' o-line/d-line is unrivaled.

i cannot wait for this game! i cannot think about anything else at work. i am a complete wreck! that being said...

i think if it is a CLOSE game, tOSU will win. close games on the road come down to a fieldgoal or a PAT and Texas proved last saturday that they cannot convert the kicks.

if the game is a BLOWOUT, Texas will win. i don't think tOSU has the manpower to produce a blowout of a team of athletes like the players of Texas.

a lot is mentioned about the aura of playing in "the shoe" at night. every game Texas plays (esp. in conference) is a "big game." Texas plays at night regularly. Texas ended nebraska's home winning streak TWICE (at least one of these was at night.) Texas beat kstate (#7 end of season ranking) in manhattan at night. Texas plays in lubbock at night every other year. these teams/fans HATE Texas. granted, there's not 105,000 of them, but there's a true passion of hatred that exists. Texas doesn't play aTm at night, but kyle field??? seriously. Texas is more than prepared to play a "big game" at night on the road.

in my opinion, all vince has to do is complete 3 passes of 20+ yards in this game (they don't have to be for touchdowns.) if he does this, the dbacks of tOSU will have to respect the pass just enough to allow the dominant Texas running game to flourish. the offensive line of Texas is the best in the country. period.

tOSU's passing game is scary. ginn is a FREAK.

there's a great breakdown of Texas on this tOSU board:

You may be in for a shock. Texas has an unbelievable crew of awesome running backs. I've been a fan since 1973 and I believe that this year they will surpass the talent that they ever had, even when they had Campbell or Priest and Ricky. The speed is just stunning.
