Sorry, but a super-star can carry a team on his back. Neither Hakeem nor Charles can do so anymore (they've both admitted as much), and Scottie hasn't shown any willingness to do so. Thus, they are ex-superstars.

On another note, I think some people here owe popeye an apology, based on recent news out today...

See Popeye, I knew you were on the level. I hope this is a lesson to all those members who jump on someone and call them a liar when they post any type of information without revealing their sources. Popeye, Amen to you brother.

dotter -- please read the post "ROCKET TRADE NEWS!!!". The second this hit the fan last night I apologized to popeye. I know I won't doubt him again.

But this doesn't change my philosophy: I will always doubt big news posts that I can either get no backing on or was posted by new posters or posters that haven't scooped something legitimate before. popeye use to say things in the past that were very "inside" in nature but I would ask about them and not get a response. Also, he said the Hakeem trade fell through because Hakeem wanted an extension and Toronto balked. Then Hakeem played stupid like he had never heard of the deal before.

Certainly this now puts that and other things he has said in the past in a different light.

However, if I took every Tom, Dick and Harry's word for it and put it on the front page, I'd have some upset people because I'd end up posting a lot of false leads or just out and out BS. People like Jeff, Will, grummett, Mark Lackner, Kagy, Keeley, SpaceCity, Almu and others have come through so consistently in the past that I never doubt it. I mean look at the KRIV report that Jeff posted -- no one has confirmed it anywhere. The Chronicle hasn't made mention of it and ESPN keeps talking about talks with Detroit - no mention of Houston. But I just know Jeff saw what he saw and knows what he is talking about -- he has come through so many times in the past.

It's just building relationships of trust.

    Dotter,

Your definition of "superstar" is yours only. Here is what its in the dictionary(look it up so you can learn it):

n(1924):a star(as in sports or the movies) who is considered extremely talented, has a great public appeal, and can usually command a high salary.

BROAD USE OF THE TERM: one that is very prominent or is a prime attraction.

Now, does that sound like something we DON'T have on this team?

Clutch -- thank you very much. That´s exactly the way I feel...

I had something from Popeye in my mind, but couldn´t recall it..it was the Hakeem extension thing.

Well, I owe him an apology.

Hell, I wish Clutch posted as much as he used to... you know, like another one of the folks on the BBS with an opinion (As much as that would be possible, given his total Clutchness and awesome responsibilities). I hope some of the great posters and legends of the BBS show up more- now that the season is about to get underway. We need your presence on the Board. Especially now that there are so many new members who weren't lurking around for years, like some of us.

    Please??

Geez...isn't there some rule about dredging up three year old threads?

Did everybody here? Hakeem was traded to Toronto! Man, I'm going to really miss him. :(
