I know for sure this thread is for me...its safe to answer this one without being a moron, yes! I grew up along the border and have been to Nuevo Laredo several times as well. Get ya something good to eat across the river for sure! If you are by yourself, I wouldn't get too drunk just for safety sake. As much as you wanna appreciate Mexico, and by all means one should, a lone American not familiar with the place should just be a little careful. Man, I'm a semi-gansta lookin hispanic and have been ripped of and jumped in Mexico at nite, although this is twice outta literally all my life of travelling and going across to Matamoros for whatever kinda fun, it just happens sometimes. I don't mean to change your plans simply be careful, but by all means go! If that seems a bit scary to think about or deal with, definately go during the day!!! OR simply enjoy Laredo,its a nice little border city and you could get just as good food from probably the same cow as you would across the river! I've been there and it is safe. Just behave as you would in any city anywhere. It is kinda sad what with all the little kids out late selling Chicklets for small amounts of money. ------------------ So, I took the million dollars and bought a steam shovel...

I have to make a 1 day business trip to Laredo tomorrow(Friday) and I have the option of going down tonight and spending the night. I wouldn't get there until about 8.30pm - can any of you guys can give some advice. Is it worth going down just for a night? My main reason for going would be to cross over into Nuevo Laredo - is it safe to do it on your own, especially If I don't cross over until aroun 9.30pm? Is Nuevo Laredo worth seeing, and is there much to do there? The novelty of crossing into Mexico, and seeing a border town is the main attraction for me. I'll also want to do a bit of shopping (alcohol, Mexican handicrafts) and I will not get a chance the next day. Any advice?
