My NBA LIVE starters: Yao, Swift, T-Mac, DA and MJ (of course, i dont force shots like he does ) MJ is more athletic than any other, too bad he is just like Francis (not a real PG)
I like Jamas, and I know he was good in Boston - but Peirce doesn't command the rock like Tmac and Yao ..maybe a trip through training camp, Gundy-Style will help
Man I loved a lot of Mike James' play during the season, but in the playoffs he really started to grate on my nerves. I'm sure people here will argue how great he was during the playoffs...but this dude is Francis-lite. And the "lite" comes from less talent, not less minutes.
This makes me feel that we must still trade for a starter PG. Mike James probably would ball hog more especially he's planning to go for a bigger contract after this coming season. I don't like a PG with a SG mentality...
If he does that he won't play. We are fortunate the trio of JVG/T-Mac/Yao are on the same page on where this team is going and if MJ doesn't fit he will sit until traded. MJ as a starter hurts us double because it messes with our offensive chemistry at the beginning of games and it removes a valuable weapon from the bench. If JVG decideds to start DA or someone else at PG, MJ better deal with it. I don't want to read to much into this thread because I didn't hear exactly what he said on the radio, but I like the fact this team keeps things in the lockerroom. Hope MJ keeps it that way.
I caught the last min of the interview. MJ made a comment about how he thinks this team will reach the finals, and then the hosts were saying watch out Spurs. MJ then said that the Spurs just got older this year, and that the Rockets got younger and better. Then someone made a joke about how it's not hard for the Rockets to get younger since our team's avg age last year was like 52. MJ then made some additional comments about our new guys saying that we added a lot more athelicism. He then said he thinks that it's a misconception that ppl think a player is old at 30-31 and believes that is when most are at their prime (like he is now). Good interview for the most part. MJ definitely showed a lot of confidence.
I don't know why but I have a feeling he'll be gone before the trade deadline is through or even before the season starts. I don't like this attitude that he has. I mean James is nice and all but he is 30 and isn't exactly all star caliber in talent. With his shoot first mentality and limited skills compared to the francis and marbury and iverson, how much money does he really deserve? Does he want to be on a contending team or does he want to just play for money? Because if he wants to be on a contending team it seems like every team that will contend already has couple of superstars and need a pass first pg to compliment them rather than one that shoots first.
Isn't it kind of contradicting to say then Spurs got older then say players are still good (or in their primes) in their 30's?
JVG has always stated he will play the people who give us the best chance to win. If Sura is hurt to start the season MJ will probably start and see alot of PT. MJames has to be one of our quickest players and I would love to see him guarding the other teams PG's since no one else seems quick enough to even keep up. Since MJames has already won a ring I understand he probably feels this is his last chance at a decent contract. I hope he doesnt ball hog just to put up good stats because you know JVG wont stand for that. However, if he plays well this season and helps us win a championship we wont be able to afford him. J
