The Rockets don't know if point guard Bob Sura's surgically repaired knee is healing more slowly than anticipated. They have no idea if he'll be ready for the start of training camp. If he's not ready for the start of the season, Mike James probably would be the starter. If you can play point guard, telephone the Rockets.

Mike James is not starting material and I don't think that DA can start as a PG.
I have been thinking about a sign and trade for GP with Wesley. GP is old but he did a pretty good job with the Celtics despite his poor defense. DA and Barry can play at the 2. Mike James can backup Payton.

Old news. Several days ago on AM610, JVG hinted very strongly Sura would not be ready for camp.

my idea of the rockets signing dan dickau, or brevin knight dont seem so stupid after. come on. lets be honest........ both knight and dickau are much better than what we have starting at point guard right now. at least those guys are dependable when it comes to health.

Just b/c Sura is not ready for training camp does not mean he wont be ready for the start of the regular season. We still have about 2 months till the season starts. thats alot of time for that knee to heal. If we are hearing these same reports come mid-october than we can really begin to worry. for now lets just give that knee more time to heal.

This explains the reason our need to make 1 more trade for a PG. We should start the season strong and not wait for Sura before to win smoothly like last seaon...

you guys are panic'ing, this gives us a chance to see how well head, ward, and moochie will fit into the rotation at all. come on guys its pre season, most vets rest during the pre season anyways. just because sura is rehabing his knee for the next 2 months is no excuse to just trade him. i would take a healthy sura over knight, dikau or payton any day. lets not get despereate guys. thats what its sounding like to me. you never know, head could be amazing during the pre season with his 40 inch vertical. you guys forget he was the leading scorer at illinois.

you forget sura is tough as nails... can drive, drill the three, and is willing to take down josh howard.

    please stop proposing trades.
head > paging payton >no shot, unathletic knight > scrub dikau

DA can play at point the way JVG wants--bring up the ball and give it to TMac.

So can David Wesley for that matter.

Damn! He has parties at his house all the time. I know girls that party there till all hours of the night. He needs to focus on rehabbing his knee more!

Sura is a 10, 6, 6 guy. That's hard to replace. Don't trade the Sura!

In a previous post I asked if we were ready for injuries? Well here we go. I mean I don't think JVG will have mike james start. He and juwan howard are our offence off the bench. But hmmmm Derek Anderson starting at pg? I know he is capable but is that what we want him doing? I like him at the sg spot a little more. Does charlie ward have anything in his gas tank? What about moochie? Uhm we need to get rid of these two if they aren't of any use and get us a third string pg that might actually be effective.

You cant be serious. Head, Ward and Moochie. Head could not even perform against a bunch of summer league scrubs. Ward and Moochie need no explanation and you think that they would be better than GP? Knight and Dikau could run circles around Ward and Moochie right now. They both handle the ball better and are not prone to jack up stupid shots like Moochie. If Ward, Head and Moochie are our point guards, even with SS, Yao and Tmac, we dont go very far. Someone has to get those guys the ball.

Let Sura take all the time he needs. We need him as healthy as possible.

Because of our offseason moves we have more depth that allows this team to continue to put a good team on the floor if we have some injuries.

James probably starts at PG then. And for the short term that's fine. I like James but I recognize he is a 'shoot first' PG. But we will be fine with him starting if need be. Anderson will play a big roll too. You can put Anderson at the 2 guard spot with James at PG and on offense Anderson plays the 1 and distributes the basketball (with James at the 2 for scoring) They can flip flop. Or if Barry is in the lineup at the 2, he is a very good passer. We have options.
