So true. what are the great rivalries of our generation?

    Boston-Yankees
    Lakers-Celtics
    Heat-Knicks
    Cowboys-'Skins
    Piston-Bulls

I'm sure there are ones in hockey too...

Anyway, all these teams had swaggar and character - San Antonio is just a really good team with boring style and fans. They will not have any rivals.

    Agreed.

It won't be San Antonio - Houston, it'll be Dallas - Houston.. UNLESS something happens to spark a flame between us, such as Ginobili throwing fists at TMac or something, Duncan and Stro getting into a fight, it would have to be something heated. And since Coach Pop is such a big ol meanie, his players are more skeered of him than they are of other players, so it probably won't ever happen.

plus lakers and celtics could have their big climax's in the nba finals but still played a little in the regular season to get the juices flowing. the best we could do is meet in the second round which doen't have the punch unless someone finshes 3rd in the division then it doesn't seem like such a rivalry.

Actually we would play the Spurs in the Western Conference Finals. Spurs #1 seed and we would be the #3 seed so we can't meet until after the 2nd round.

Actually, we can't be the #3 seed if the Spurs win the division. The only way we could meet them after the 2nd round is if we finish #6 or #7.

There will never be another rivalry like the Lakers and Celtics from the 80's. That rivalry was about more than just championship rings; it was about east vs. west, Hollywood glitz vs. blue-collar grit, fast-break vs. grind it out, and of course, Magic vs. Bird.

    Knicks-Heat

    Gag

Most horrid basketball of all time. Only thing that was entertaining was the fights.

WRONG...that intangible is there......see Bruce Bowen. You forgot about him????

If the Rockets and Spurs play regularly enough, the Rockets are sure to grow tired of Bruce Bowen and his antics. This is no shot at the guy, but the head games he plays with other players has brought animosity to many games with other teams before.

The key to this rivalry will be how many times they play each other. That's what created the animosity between the C's and Lakers...they played each other so much, they became sick of each other. If the Spurs and Rockets see each other twice in the next two season's playoff rounds, coupled with the amount of times they play in the regular season, it will become a rivalry for sure.

Even more imminent, if the Rockets see the Mavs in the playoffs this year and "return the favor" this will be a rivalry for sure. And its what the NBA needs....for all three Texas teams to be at each other's throats.

Actually you again are wrong. Let me break it down for you.

    1vs8 plays 4v5
    2v7 plays 3v6

If the Spurs will be the #1 seed because they will win the division Then we will be the #3 seed coming in 2nd in the division Because the winner of the other division would be the #2 seed.
This means we wouldnt play the spurs until the Western Conference Finals.

Actually if Spurs don't finished with the best record in west, and we get the 4th or 5th seed, then we will meet them in the WCF.

I'm as big a Rockets fan as anyone here. But actually I've always thought the Spurs were kinda cool. Cool unis, George Gervin, Artis Gilmore. Better than the Mavs. That's for sure.

Right now the Spurs fans are annoying me more than anything. When I tell them I am a rockets fan the first thing they say is Rockets SUCK! Dallas and Houston have a little beef with what Josh howard did to Yao last season in the playoffs. But I have a feeling this season the Rockets will even out that score. But the Spurs.... Oiii I wish Horry would get off that team so I can hate them even more. Their fans are starting to get just as bad as Fakers fans. There are times when I wish we had an ex-Knick with an attitude like Childs on our team. I remember watching him putch Kobe in the face. I would love for him to just smack Bruce Bowen. Maybe Swift will catch a nice alley oop from Mcgrady and just YANK IT on Duncan. I am hoping when we meet them in the playoffs this year Mcgrady is just going to give another posterizing dunk right on a Spurs big man like he did to Bradley. I really want to see some excitement, fire, rage and a killers mentality on our players when we play the Spurs.
