I was under the impression we weren't excepting any aid. So that's still better than what I thought. Still though, not only does not excepting offered aid foreign or domestic slow things down, it's snotty.

If you need to blame someone blame the inept governor Blanco.

If Bobby Jindal was in office, there would be no disorder.

Yea those democrats have all of the answers, they will fix everything. I admit that everything isn't fine and rosy but to come out and say a democrat is better is just ignorant and rediculous. They had no plan to fight terrorism and still blame Katrina on Global warning...oops now, they flipped their focus back to Bush and the government who now have an even harder job to do and be scutinized about simply because the democratic mayor of new orleans and governer failed to actually plan for the inevitable, and attempt to lead their people. Who dropped the ball on Bin Laden?

A visibly angry Mayor Daley said the city had offered emergency, medical and technical help to the federal government as early as Sunday to assist people in the areas stricken by Hurricane Katrina, but as of Friday, the only things the feds said they wanted was a single tank truck.

One of the most sickening things of this whole ordeal has been listening to the right wing talk shows since Nagin made his angry radio address to basically the entire country. Nagin said the "I" word (Iraq) and BAM.. the right wing attack dogs were ALL over him.. smearing him.. blaming him.. swift boating him.. so sad, so inappropriate, so infuriating.

I thought the Bush as Moron thread was as good a place as any to post this info on the head of FEMA and Bush's opinion of him..
    *******
Michael Brown, the blithering idiot in charge of FEMA - a job he trained for by running something called the International Arabian Horse Association - admitted he didn't know until Thursday that there were 15,000 desperate, dehydrated, hungry, angry, dying victims of Katrina in the New Orleans Convention Center.

Was he sacked instantly? No, our tone-deaf president hailed him in Mobile, Ala., yesterday: "Brownie, you're doing a heck of a job."

I still stand by most of what I said. Was I a little over the top? Perhaps. I shouldn't have made this a partisan issue. Whether it’s Republican, Neo-Con, Democratic, Libertarian,--the one thing is clear is that our government is a failure. I'm sick and tired of seeing America degenerating into the state that it is currently in. Our education system is a joke, our society has morphed into such a selfish, rude, greedy caricature of itself--it's embarrassing. You want proof! Let me ask you this--Do you allow your children to watch television anymore, or listen to popular music, or allow your kids to watch a movie these days anymore? How the hell do you let millions of illegal immigrant’s storm into this country but limit the entry of hard working, decent, legal immigrants in this country. How do you let our society be so divided among class/race lines that the country is no longer united? How do you let America become so hated by almost EVERYONE in the world? How do you let 5% of the population control 80% of the countries wealth? How is it that America has the largest poverty rate among all the industrialized countries in the world? Our soldiers are dying for a war that was full of lies and deception. I can understand if this was WW2 when AMERICA and the WORLD was clearly in danger but how does Iraq pose any danger to America except for some idiot dictator named Saddam Hussein. America is becoming a caricature of itself and it’s hard for me to take. I'm proud to be an American but America needs to get its priorities straight and concentrate on this country, and not be a bully and policeman to the world. Americans are a kind, generous, racially tolerant nation (for the most part). It’s the government that is failing us as Americans. BTW this is coming from a non-native born legal immigrant who became an American citizen and made a successful life for himself in this country. It's quite shocking to see so many Americans in the dark about this. It's not to too late to make America become a great country that it used to be.

This post is better than your opening post, but my God, man, learn to use the return/enter key after so many sentences. Paragraphs would help make that post a LOT more readable.

Who dropped the ball on Bin Laden? Bush, and Clinton. Clinton at least had a plan, and Bush never made it a priority to get around to it.

To say the Democrats had no plan to fight terrorism is just ignorant. You may not have liked their plan, but they certainly did have one.

In fact even Clinton had one, and Bush used almost everything in Clinton's plan AFTER 9/11. That would include shutting down "charities" that support terrorist groups, going after terrorist funding, increasing the communication between intel agencies, increasing the FBI's powers enabling them to use more surveilance and wiretapping techniques(this one was voted down by the Republicans), using special forces to go into nations where Al Qaeda had set up terrorist training camps and getting rid of them, and an executive order to assisinate OBL. Basically everything that Bush is doing after the fact, Clinton came up with prior to the fact.

It is accurate to say that Clinton should have come up with it sooner and enacted those plans prior to leaving office. Is accurate to say that Clinton didn't do enough.

It is not accurate to say that Democrats didn't have a plan. It is not accurate to imply that Clinton's was the only administration that dropped the ball.
