I saw Oswalt pitch his first game in Round Rock, he is an awesome pitcher. Another name to remember though for the future - Tim Redding. Bringing up Oswalt is a positive step. I'm not sure that sending him to the pen is the best idea, though. Dierk said that that was "the way they bring up young pitchers" but Miller started last year in the rotation, and he's doing pretty well right now. Still, Oswalt and Dotel in the bullpen means I see less of Jay Powell. And that is a good thing. ------------------ I'm about to boldly go where many men have gone before.
1. It's not Enron field - Lima just sucks. Look at his ERA away from home last year and this year. It's just as bad. Lima was never more than a mediocre pitcher who pitched in a great ballpark for his type... and who got a LOT of run support from the Killer B's. Even during his 20 win season his ERA away from home was below average. The guy was always overrated. Get rid of him. Trade him to the Yanks or Red Sox for a can of peanuts... around July, they'll be begging for even marginal pitchers and don't care about money. 2. I don't feel as bad about Jay Powell as most of you. Sure, he's getting bombed... but he has good stuff. I think it's mental with him more than anything else. Maybe a triple A assignment will solve the problem. 3. I think things'll work out - Elarton's still a talented guy, and Reynolds last start shows there may be hope in sight. I wonder if Lima will support his arguement that it was an accident, by claiming that he's just not a very good pitcher? Would anyone here argue? I'm not sure he could have hit the batters elbow if he was aiming for it -- so it had to be an accident. ------------------ Stay Cool...
