In the case that any of our role players get injured, do we have enough back up to hold up? This is an issue that may become a serious problem through out the season. Derek Anderson has yet to really play a full season. Bobby Sura, David Wesley and Juwan Howard are all coming back from either surgery or in the case of Juwan Howard a heart ailment. Are the Rockets ready in the case that anyone such as Mutumbo, Juwan howard, Wesley, Sura, Mike James, or Jon Barry get an injury during the season. We may be loaded at the point guard position but what about the two or three spots? I don't know if Baker has been working out or not but is he really reliable for a third string pf? I hope the front office isn't just sitting down relaxed just yet.

Seems to me that we are covered at the guard positions, but not in the frontcourt.

we are two, three deep solid at every position

can't ask for much more than that

    C - Yao, Deke
    PF - Howard, Swift
    SF - McGrady, Anderson/Anderson
    SG - Wesley, Barry/Anderson
    PG - Sura, James

If 1 C or 1 PF goes down during the year, we're looking at some serious Baker time!

JVG/CD already said they are looking for another big. They will also look to free up roster spots in a two-for-one.

Give them time to make the right deal.

I can't think of a young available 4/5 right now, but we might get a pretty good 4, or at least a serviceable 3/4.

I don't like threads that talk about injuries. Can we just hope that there won't be any and not discuss it. Any trade that this team makes isn't going to be as significant as the players we already have, so what's use - IMO

I guess it seems like bad karma.

with our offseason acquisitions, we're more deep than ever...im not too concerned about injuries because CD went into this offseason preparing for the chance that a lot of our guys are coming off surgery...

    Well, it depends.

If both Baker and Moochie break their spines, the team will still be fine.

If Yao and TMac both blow a knee, get ready for Rudy Gay...

Problem: Not much depth if D. Anderson is mentioned 3 times
Problem: We will need another power foward if Juwan has a situation.
Problem: We were extremely lucky that Deke held up last year, but now the contract is for 2 years.... WHAT THE F&*^!

No team has quality 3rd string depth at every position. And if one of our top two All-stars go down, then we're screwed the same as any other team. A little more depth would be nice, but not necessary.

I think our backcourt is set w/ all the players we have. Sura, James, Wesley, DA, Barry, and Head should get us through the season.

I would like to see us bring in Baxter or another PF for some insurance in case JH has problems. Braggs played pretty good for us to first time he was around, I don't see how Baxter could be any worse.

    Should be:

    C - Yao, Deke
    PF - Howard, Swift
    SF - McGrady, Bowen/Anderson
    SG - Wesley, Barry/Anderson
    PG - Sura, James/Head

Well I am not really prepared to see Baker fill in for any of our front court players. If Mutumbo goes down does that mean Swift will be playing some center position as well? Hmmm....... A 2 for 1 trade to get big.... which two do we give up for 1. I hope we aren't trading any of our key back up guards. I mean if you look at SA if udrich goes down they still have nve or barry who can also play point. if finley is injured or bowen they can slide finley to play the 3. Barry at 6'6 might even be suffice too. Their team seems more prepared for an injury to any of their role players than we are. The suns look somewhat alright as well. I mean do we really want to have moochie or ward backing up sura or james in case either of those two are injured? How deep is our bench really compared to the other contenders?

I think we're deep enough... as long as Yao and TMac are healthy.... I can live with Head..

We need another PF/C just in case.

We have enough guards to overcome an injury or two in the backcourt.
