    Hello fellow BBSers,

My wife is graduating from UH in a little over a week, and I cannot for the life of me think of a single thing to get for her as a graduation present.

    Anyone have any ideas?

Money is an issue, but I'm not talking <$20.

I've been thinking along the lines of a digital camera, but we don't really take that many pictures, and I can always scan regular photos....

She doesn't need a watch, doesn't want a new car radio, doesn't collect anything, and doesn't really have a "hobby"....

I'm suffering from brain-lock someone help!

You can never go wrong with jewelry. Even if money is an issue, there is some really nice stuff out there for not that much money. [IMG]

Perhaps a vacation. It doesn't have to be expensive or in some exotic, but a hotel on a beach somewhere for a couple of days should be relaxing after the hustle and bustle of preparations for graduation.

I would go with Rockets Jewelry. It's the best of both worlds.

    Space Ghost,

    Puedlfor,

While both good suggestions, I am hoping to get something that will last a while. A vacation would be over shortly and she wouldn't have anything from me to commemorate the occassion.

You both at least seem to be taking it seriously, so feel free to offer some more ideas.

    Ali Cat,

This is more what I'm talking about. But, what kind of jewelry (Jeff, you better not chime in here, this isn't a Gallery Furniture commercial [IMG])

Like I said, a watch isn't really an option. She doesn't wear necklaces much.... She doesn't even wear rings much. She has her wedding band, her engagement ring, and another ring I bought her a long time ago and that's it. I've considered earrings, but I'm just not sure.

The hard thing is our anniversary is coming up at the end of May, then her birthday is at the beginning of June, so I have some serious present buying to do.

DREAMer, Space Ghost was on the money. An experience at a quaint little b&b can be great... and something that you'll take with you forever.

Well, if she likes earrings, how about some plain diamond studs? There is a wide range in prices here- go to any jewelry store to check them out. You don't have to get them set in platinum or anything. Maybe even a diamond solitaire necklace? That is something simple and plain that she could wear all the time because it would go with anything.

I don't know what kind of jewelry she likes, but one of my all time favorite jewelry artists is Ayala Bar. she does have a website: www.ayalabar.com but you can't buy directly. [IMG] However, they do carry her jewelry at the MFA gift shop. It isn't all that expensive. The most might be $300 or so.

What about a bracelet? You could get a plain band and have it engraved with something like "Congratulations on your graduation".

My best tip, if you don't go with Ayala Bar jewelry, go for something simple that she can wear everyday, like studs or a plain bracelet. Does that help? I can always give more- jewelry is one of my favorite topics! [IMG]

Yeah, but those studs that make the earlobes hang down like Kevin Garnets'. [IMG] haha just kiddin'.
My real suggestion would be something related to her degree or perhaps new career if she indeed has a new career on the way. A leather breifcase/bag from Kenneth Cole, a Palm pilot, or a gift certificate somewhere and let her decide. The MFA does have some funky stuff though...

I bought my wife a painting that she liked. But a bed and Breakfast sounds good. They have a real nice one in Gruene(near San Marcos).

    What is her major?

Perhaps you can get her something she can use in her profession -- a monogrammed briefcase, a desk sign with her name on it. If it's healthcare related, a Littman stethescope with her name engraved on it. Something she can use in her chosen field with pride.
