He may be a bit TOO overrated, but I don't think that all of the hype is misguided. I had league pass last year and did catch a few Cavs games. His jump shot really did improve from his first year, and his FG% jumped close to 48%, 3PT% is at 35%. If anything, he is taking much smarter shots. But seriously, he really pulled the Cavs singlehandedly to most of their wins.

I live in Ohio and watch a ton of Cavs games, LeBron is gonna be REAL good. His jumpshot has improved alot. Its funny how the guy averages 27ppg, over 7+rpg and 7+apg while drawing doubles and is called overrated while all the hype around Wade is "deserved". I take Bron over Wade anyday.

Another thing I like about LBJ is that through all the media coverage he has kept a team first attitude.

No doubt Lebron has talent, hes probably got the most athletic ability of anybody in the league, but I also have watched him a number of times and I just don't see anything special about his scoring ability in a half court offense. I know that he averaged close to 28 so that sounds kinda ridiculous but lets not forget who he is playing for and also look at where he ranks as far as attempts per game. I would love to have his court awareness on our team but when I watch him and then watch mcgrady there is just no comparison right now. Maybe I'm just pissed because McGrady doesn't get the media attention he deserves while lebron james gets all of it and in my opinion is no where near the player that mcgrady is at this point.

I do agree that McGrady is sorely underrated and would take him over LBJ right now too. McGrady is IMO making the big move from star to superstar. He really shined in the playoffs. I make no argument that LBJ is better than Tracy at this stage of his career.

The point about Bron I think is this, just the fact that he is mentioned in the same breath as McGrady, Duncan and those guys at this early stage in his career says alot. Dont forget Tracy was in the same boat in Orlando (high averages, high attempts on not-so-great team) and look what he is doing now ;)

When Bron came out there was so much hype I dont think anyone really thought he could actually live up to it. Not only did he do it but has improved from last year. He had way more pressure than anyone I can remember and still played great. If he improves even a little bit he will be close to averaging a triple double. Pretty impressive stuff from a overrated player.

I guess my question would be what more could he have done in his first 2 seasons to not be overrated considering the team he was on?

He was mimicking the Lakers board. Notice the quotations.

I find it quite hard for any person to pick anybody but Duncan to star on your team. The guy has a career wining % in the 70's not to mention 3 Championships before he was 30. He might be the entertaining player on the court but he is the best player that can dominate both sides of the ball. In the NBA WINNING IS EVERYTHING. You will always place players that win Championships above people that put up stats. Which is more impressive 100 point game or 11 Championship rings.

    • duncan (You can't deny him)
KG (close 2nd.....he's the big ticket)
Shaq (don't care how old he is)
      TMAC (Kobe could be here)
      Kobe (Tmac could be here)
Lebron (Could move to 3 by the end of the year)
Iverson (have people forgot? You still can't defend him!)
      Amare (a beast)
D Wade (very good, but not as good as Kobe and TMAC)
Yao/Dirk (Yao is behind Diggler, but it was too hard to leave him off the list)

WOW. If he can do this again, I would say he's better than MJ.

I'll say this, if I have the ball, five seconds on the clock, down by one and I had to pick one player to take the final shot I would definitly go with T-Mac (even over Horry). But overall I don't think that T-mac's game has eclipsed Duncan or KG so my top five would have to go like this.

    1. KG (regardless of last season)
    2. Duncan (the proof is in the pudding)
    3. T-Mac (if he picks up his defense he will be number one)
    4. James (still needs to mature, but freakishly good for his age)
    5. Amare (Nash or not, no big man can guard him one on one)
    6. Wade (all the intagibles that James doesn't have, yet but not as talented)
    7. Iverson (one dimensional, but its a hell of a dimension)
    8. Shaq (not as effective, but still demands a double team on every touch)
    9. Kidd (triple double on any night, but knee has slowed him)
    10. Kobe (so talented, but needs to redeem himself as a team player)

TMac and Lebron are the only non bigmen IMO that have the potential to elevate the level of play of their teammates to championship caliber.
Now,I agree Tracy is making the move to superstar,so,if I go shortterm I go TMac,but longterm,Lebron.James gives you a giant dose of Magic w' a smidgeon of MJ and perhaps dare I say it,some Karl Malone.Magic's ability to see the floor and be a general out there,is in James.Buy his stock now,for King James will rule for a long time.
Let me be clear.LJ and the Cavs will rule the East when Shaq lets go...As for the title,we should be in the midst of our dynasty when Lebron wins his first.

Amare is peaking early. He relies on his athleticism way too much to dominate forever. If he doesn't pick up more skill, watch out for him to decline in 4-5 years.

Lebron on the other hand is getting better and better. If he works as hard as MJ, he'll be on a whole 'nother level than everyone else.
