not over yet... but if we are done, then I cant be any happier... 2 for 1 would absolutely complete whats been a superb summer by the ROX management.

I'm hoping Luther will come in and play his a$$ off and shut up all those doubters. We could definitely use his speed and versitility in the backcoart. I'm Mike James Bbbbbiiiiaaa.....

LOL. If you substitute Rockets for Lakers in your post, would you hate the Rockets? I don't think so.

It was funny going to some Lakers boards and seeing them suddenly say they didn't want Yao anyway, that Amare is the prize. There are level headed fans though who try to get them to understand how the 2007 plan is a pipe dream. Anways, now they think they are getting Amare or LeBron.

Not that I am knocking Berman's Yao Extension report....but I am a bit surprised I havent see ANY other media outlet pick this up. No reports so far from the AP or from the Chronicle. It would be nice to see an article somewhere.

I would not but the rest of the NBA probably would.

I'm curious if he has actually signed or if he has just agreed to sign. Motumbo remember agreed but did not sign till he came back to Houston, I wonder if this is more likely to be the case with Yao as well. If Berman was informed of an agreement to sign by the Rockets but nothing official has actually happened then this would explain the lack of attention by any other media source.

That makes sense in terms of the AP running a story, but not the Chronicle. If there is a verbal agreement then that should at least be a short story.

Get your head out of your moniker and come to your Rocket senses.

It's a completely different situation. Seeing as how I grew up a Rockets fan, I'd be ecstatic with that kind of success.

If I had grown up somewhere else, and the Rockets had the same kind of success the Lakers have had, I'd hate them too.

Here's how the media works in Houston:

    Berman reports it.
    Berman confirms it.
Other stations and the Chron follow up.
    National media reports it.
Whatever was reported is confirmed by everyone.
    Press conference is called.
    Deal is done.

And they wait for the star player to be in Houston for the signing and the attendant publicity splash. (a splash! a splash!) Good summation, Jeff.

I still want to know if Berman reported that Yao had signed or agreed to. I would think it would have been agreed to but the title says signs so I'm not sure.
