Of course I'd go with Weezer if their last 3 albums hadn't been such crap. I really think they're pretty much dead to me now. This will be the first Weezer tour I've skipped in 10 years. That's really saying something because I was REALLY into them back in the Blue/Pinkerton days. I mean "RM95 to DMB" into them. Fanclub member #1987. I named my cat after them. They really miss Matt Sharp's co-writing and falsetto vocals. They're just not Weezer without him. Going by Jeff's standards, I'm gonna go with Kings X.
I forgot about Wilco! They should have been in your poll. They along with Blondie and The Cars are my favorite American bands ever.
Off this list Greenday. I like QOTSA and Audioslave as well, and Foo Fighters would have been my pick if they were on the list too.
They're not an American band. They're not an American band. They won't come to your town. They won't help you party down. They're not an American band.
My pick is Incubus. Whatever happened to Third Eye Blind? I really liked their stuff. I guess they are on hiatus.
i'm bumping my picks.... apparently you guys wouldn't know good music if it took a crap on your chest.
Love the Allmans and have seen them a few times. They are always great live. Cannot stand the Black Crowes. The Faces did it better than the Black Crowes back in the early 70s, and Chris Robinson is about as pure an assclown as there is. You may start flaming now.....my asbestos suit is on!
just going off your list id pick mars volta. they only have 2 albums, but both quality and original. they also will put on one of the best rock shows you've ever seen. part hendrix, part sabbath, part floyd, part fugazi, part crimson. plus, they are the only texans on the list - gotta represent, yo! never got too much into the last wilco record, but they are still up there for me. and they are a totally different live band since adding nels cline. ive seen them close to 10 times and their current line-up is the best they have had. they rock like neil young and crazy horse. cant wait to see them again at austin city limits. my 4 favorite american bands from the last 20 years would be.. the pixies guns n' roses janes addiction fugazi
i voted for qotsa... but grohl was on the 2nd album songs for the deaf. their first album was rated r that came out in like 2000. greenday had a greatest hits called international superhits.
i think there's no clear cut winner. there's no one band that's clearly head and shoulders above the rest. which could be both a good thing and a bad thing depending on how you look at it. my favourite bands of the 2000+ are clap your hands and say yeah the arcade fire (and like someone mentioned, 2 of the 4 band members are from houston, although they were formed in montreal canada when one of the houstonian got together with a montrealer)
I love The Bravery, but I think in order to qualify for the list they need to have released more than one album.
